Ah im not picking on that niche usage of the thread im saying ive heard of bob saget for years but genuinely was he famous for maybe being in chat shows as a guest or what

He was a comedian who was on a hit sitcom and then became the host of America's Funniest Home Videos, but on the quiet was a pretty obscene stand-up. If you've seen the movie The Aristocrats, which is by no means obscure on either side of the Atlantic, you've seen Bob Saget and might remember him.

I've never heard of him tbh.

Yeah, although I knew he was in Full House I have never seen an actual episode. Bob for me was one of those names that always comes up in podcasts amongst other comedians. I recently watched him in an episode of Larry Sanders, which might have been the only time I've ever seen him perform.

Terry Teachout. I haven't read much of his work, but I liked his Duke Ellington biography (a lot of others didn't; it was deemed insufficiently reverent).

He was a really good and important theater critic (longtime for The Wall Street Journal). Often reviewed outside of NYC and outside of hyped/commercial theater.
