aw man whyd u move, my girl lives on stuyvesant we coulda been bed stuy buddies
― max, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 14:34 (seventeen years ago)
n e way this is what i said upthred:
"peaches" in bed stuy has got some good nu-americana or whatever you wanna call it--good soul food/comfort dishes made w/ local organic ingredients. waiter and hostess were really nice; ricotta was delicious. good fries and sandwiches.
u should check out peaches surmo--theyre working out some kinks but as an experience its great--and when the food is on, its on
i might check out their brunch today aksh
the smoke joint guys place in bed-stuy, peaches, is worth a trip on the A--in particular for their salads and veggie dishes, and the pearl pasta.
― max, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 14:41 (seventeen years ago)
to reiterate: totally worth checking out, theyre definitely hit-and-miss still but i think once they get everything ironed out itll be great, veggie dishes in particular are fantastic
― max, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 14:42 (seventeen years ago)
lol the other night i was there and someone ordered a pie and it had been made w/ salt instead of sugar [trombone noise] but it was lols all around and they got their dinner comped so wvs
haha... i will def go soon :D btw, not that it's important but there was an incredibly hot girl at the smoke joint the other night. and she had on this amazing gold charmbracelet. i had to tell her how perfect it was. she said it was anne klein -- who knew?
― Surmounter, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 14:47 (seventeen years ago)
wait max is it your bday tomorrow?
― Surmounter, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 14:59 (seventeen years ago)
max we can still hang out even if i live in the target now
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:00 (seventeen years ago)
anyway i wanna eat their shrimp & grits, based on the review i read, they sound A+ but i would think that in general.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:03 (seventeen years ago)
hay schef is there still an applebees downstairs from the target?i want all-you-can-eat chicken fingers goddamnit.
― ian, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:10 (seventeen years ago)
there's one up the street a bit on flatbush! in the atlantic center there's just buffalo wild wings and chuck e. cheese (a friend said that chuck e. cheese is the most depressing place on earth but now i can't remember who actually said it)
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:16 (seventeen years ago)
ha! my friend kiran said that, and i think i passed that info on to you.
― lauren, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:17 (seventeen years ago)
yes it is my bday tomorrow
― max, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:24 (seventeen years ago)
i know we can hang out at the target ally i just wanted to be "bed stuy buddies" and make shirts or jumpsuits or something
i live right next to the target (is there more than one?)
― Surmounter, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:35 (seventeen years ago)
u must be so close to me then!
yes i've always wanted to go to that applebees. the chuck e is indeed very depressing.
you should try bellmont steaks at the atlantic mall for some good old southern-style mediocrity
― Surmounter, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:36 (seventeen years ago)
i'll come to bed-stuy and go to peaches and you should come and we will take a picture and i'll make a blingee and it'll say "max & ally bed stuy buddies 4 eva"
surmounter, you're in ft greene yeah? i'm over on bergen & 4th. i just moved pretty recently beginning of summer so i'm still exploring all the new shit that's popped up in this area since last i had reasons to hang out in "bococa" or whatever ppl call it now.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:41 (seventeen years ago)
lol im not pround of it but i have been to that applebees and that buffalo wild wings
not been to peaches but i am srsly doubting the smoke joint dudes could ever put anything worthwhile together
― joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:43 (seventeen years ago)
im way surprised at ppls dislike of smoke joint, it wasnt like heavenly or anything but it was better than a lot of bbq ive had
― max, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:44 (seventeen years ago)

i'm still a huge fan of mullane's.
― Surmounter, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:56 (seventeen years ago)
i have some faith in them cause i thought that little pig was really good. sad that they killed it. i went to peaches once and it was pretty good but nothing more. would give it another chance. i think smoke joint is good, but never go there.
― mizzell, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:56 (seventeen years ago)
sur, you like everything. it's charming.
― mizzell, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 15:57 (seventeen years ago)
i will admit that i am pushing peaches maybe more than it deserves cause i have a certaine amnt of hood pride 4 it plus once they gave me a free corn & black bean salad

― gabbneb, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:00 (seventeen years ago)
omg dumont's burger is delicious. i have to try lucali pizza still.
max have you tried solomon's porch yet? it's inconsistent (they seemed to run out of like half their menu constantly?) but brunch is good.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:09 (seventeen years ago)
its across the street from my girlfriends place but i havent been yet... keep meaning to stop by since its the only place to get a beer in like 30000 blocks but never end up doing it
― max, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:12 (seventeen years ago)
ok yr gf lives like 10 minutes from my old apt, that is hilarious.
they had a good shrimp & grits there for sure. <--- apparently my definition of "worthwhile restaurant experience"
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:23 (seventeen years ago)

― joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:39 (seventeen years ago)
dumont's burger is fine but by far not the best burger in brooklyn.IMHO the best burger in brooklyn is probably at Bonnie's in Park Slop.
also, Bar-B-Q in Greenwood Heights is awesome.
― ian, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:40 (seventeen years ago)

― joe six pak (ice crӕm), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:41 (seventeen years ago)

― mizzell, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:41 (seventeen years ago)
it's not claimed as just the best burger in brooklyn, but the best in nyc
"peaches" in bed stuy has got some good nu-americana or whatever you wanna call it--good soul food/comfort dishes made w/ local organic ingredients

― max, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 16:46 (seventeen years ago)
question:
what ever happened to Honmura An in SoHo? I heard Jean-Georges bought the space a few years back but never heard what became of it. That used to be my go-to soba spot downtown.
