I think there was also an accusation that "Kieth" was xenophobic. lol the guy who brought rampant islamophobe Trevor Phillips back to the party a victim of xenophobic name-shaming - what a hoot!

Oh I read this, some anti-Celtic names shite or whatever from people who never once said a word about Dennis Hutchings or historical crimes prosecutions.

Petition to strip Sir Tony Blair of knighthood surpasses 370,000 signatures

if this could reach a few million at least it would cause some embarrassment, but on the other hand they can stick their honours system up their arse.

if a million people taking to the streets to protest blair's ambition to murder hundreds of thousands of people in iraq and afghanistan had no effect then a bunch of digital signatures is v unlikely to move the needle of conscience much either

balsamic vaccinegar of moderna (bizarro gazzara), Monday, 3 January 2022 12:23 (four years ago)

remember Marsan's wall of New Labour achievements? well here's the good news: Kieth won't be re-opening the 500 Sure Start centres that the Tories closed!

calzino, Monday, 3 January 2022 12:25 (four years ago)

xp

also the problem is that it sort of legitimises the honours system even if that isn't the intention.

calzino, Monday, 3 January 2022 12:27 (four years ago)

Tories may or may not have closed SureStarts but now I'm back on it they were funded for 5 years and were intended to be self funding thru reallocation of budgets and voluntary organisation contributions

Khafre's clown (Noodle Vague), Monday, 3 January 2022 12:32 (four years ago)

so they almost certainly would have closed a third of them since 2010 whoever won the GE. My favourite Sure Start moment was seeing inspirational quotes stuck to the wall in a meeting room at the Ravensthorpe SS. One quote from Ghandi, one from John Lennon and then one from a mumsnet post!

Excellent thread on disability and covid. So much comes down to cuts.

Yes, Frances disabled children do exist, and they are often more impacted than the mitigations you have been calling for. Can you please stop spreading disinformation which has led to suffering and abuse of disabled children? 🧵 1/13 https://t.co/EyI8h4SbF7

Dr Ryan has made the case that *disabled people* as a group are *more vulnerable to covid* and therefore *more protected by any mitigations put in place to prevent it*. This position papers over the wide variety of disability and capacity of blanket interventions to do harm.

this is so otm. Dr Ryan has done good work, like shining a light on how the DWP were phoning often vulnerable and worried people going through PIP tribunals that they were likely to win, to pressurize them into accepting reduced offers. I didn't see many other people giving that as much coverage and now that foul practise been stopped after a successful test case. But sometimes she's a bit reluctant to criticise and oppose the Labour Party line on matters. And sometimes she's just plain wrong. I once politely asked her and kept it polite cos she is nice, I asked why is she so supportive towards Yvette Cooper considering how much death and destruction she's wrought on a whole lot of disabled people. And her amazing answer was: How was she to know back then how terrible PFI means testing would turn out to be. I mean ...Wut?!!!

Online it says that Keir Starmer is 5’8 but I’ve met him and he was at least my height or shorter and I’m 5’6

— Join Acorn 📣✊ (@Georgina666_) January 4, 2022

his office has added a few fictitious inches to his height on all the garbage wiki-celeb sites, this is the kind of trivial shit they are thinking about while his recent polling gains seem to be on the wane again.

calzino, Wednesday, 5 January 2022 08:54 (four years ago)

He’s solidly 5’6”. I was invited to the party celebrating his election as MP and sent my very tall friend (made taller by some Lanvin stiletto boots) over to chat to him, purely for the LOLs of seeing her tower over him by at least six inches.

Boris is a shortarse too and, of course, Sunak is barely visible to the naked eye.

I Can't See Gervais In My Mind (Tom D.), Wednesday, 5 January 2022 09:40 (four years ago)

tbf on Boris (and I don't want to be) he doesn't seem to gaf which is the correct attitude. Whereas Kieth has to coordinate publicity shots so no women are seen towering over him. Rishi gets everyone to stand on a winding staircase with obv him at the top.

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 5 January 2022 10:28 (four years ago)
