yeah he’s very hard to read, it seems like he’s bro-ing down with the hoi polloi and breaking with his dad and then all of a sudden he’s back on team marco. i dunno

I tend to think that he's overcompensating with the hoi polloi/ in public so that his discomfort and anger and patricidal urges aren't picked up on so keenly, tbh.

Seems like they are setting up a moment where Filip makes a critical decision that is either pro-Marco or pro-Naomi. And trying to keep it reasonably uncertain which way he will go.

Glad they spent time on Holden’s decision to deactivate the torpedo rather than pretend it wasn't controversial. It was almost like the they read the ILX discussion lol.

yes, seems so - thanks for all your reads on filip, confirms what I suspected. I've taken more of an interest in his arc this season, think I got a bit fatigued with the naomi/filip stuff last season

this is now how many times Marco could have been easily killed and someone hesitated due to guilt (either over killing Marco himself or killing Filip or killing Marco in front of Filip or......etc etc)?

Marco is such a piece of shit it's hard to choose which character most deserves the honor of killing him. It's probably gotta be Naomi, but I think I'd like to see Bobbie or Drummer literally skin him alive.

filip’s an interesting character in that, if he had his heart in it, he’d probably be a more charismatic leader than his father, as mentioned above

the underlying question when thinking about the motivations of the belters following marco is whether their cause is about justice, or if it’s more about rage and spite. marco’s fundamentally incapable of making it to his own end goal, imo, because while he’s charismatic he’s going to do the most spiteful thing every time regardless of whether it makes sense in the end.

he’s holden’s diametric opposite. holden has amos and company checking him and asking why he’s disarming torpedos, but marco’s not going to get that from filip because his kid’s still sorting out his own feelings and stance. the person who has the same basic interests (well-being of the belters, etc) as marco who is getting closest to putting him in check is drummer

rewatching s5 w/o rereading the thread to reacquaint myself, blindsided by alex still being a character, feels like he was taken out of the story like five or six years ago but time has no meaning any more

Drummer has very much become my favorite.

don't know what it was like in the books but clearly feels like a case of "let's center the show and drama around the fan-favorite"

This was part of the "trivia" in the sidebar during this week's episode: they mentioned that book-Drummer and book-Michio were kind of combined to create TV-Drummer, which I guess means TV-Michio is made up from whole cloth?

Was not expecting the stupid little girl in the opening sequences to go full Pet Sematary with her little brother. That storyline is still worthless IMO, though.
