Watching this now, a few beers in… I LOL’d as soon as it cut to the in-Sarlaac footage.

The Sarlaac looked extremely easy to bust out of.

chap, Sunday, 2 January 2022 10:58 (four years ago)

Yes, like hey Stormtrooper with the full body armour and the air supply Fett needed …

assert (matttkkkk), Sunday, 2 January 2022 13:15 (four years ago)

shit sorry I don’t know how to spoiler tag, but I guess not egregious

assert (matttkkkk), Sunday, 2 January 2022 13:15 (four years ago)

Even having watched the episode, there are certain plot points I would appreciate having “spoiled” (as they make little sense).

It seemed this focused more on the action and especially choreographed fight sequences, which were handled rather expertly I thought.

funny how Luke was so concerned about sandpeople when there were 6 legged spoilersauruses chillin an inch below the surface

spoiler: Luke was racist

*thinks back to original film's dialogue*

LUKE: "Sandpeople! Or worse."

*concludes the 'or worse' covers spoilersauruses, sues Neanderthal for slander*

Ned Raggett, Monday, 3 January 2022 01:13 (four years ago)

Hot take

The fighting was so slow!! omg, I was laughing

I mean, do we remember the first light saber fight in the SW universe

like it was yesterday. "oh my goodness, a lightsaber! ... or worse"

I don’t even care about Star Wars but the fact that they made Patton Oswalt’s fillibuster fan fic story from Parks and Rec and actual thing in Book of Boba Fett is amazing! pic.twitter.com/MvwSWvSryk

Holy shit, lmao

Dan I., Monday, 3 January 2022 19:35 (four years ago)

Exactly my first thought when Fett burst out of the sand was that P&R scene.

nashwan, Monday, 3 January 2022 20:06 (four years ago)

That is really funny

I guess even "official" SW is at least 1/3 in-joke at this point

So this new episode was mostly full on deep original film lore shit and I loved every second of it.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 5 January 2022 21:24 (four years ago)

:D i cant wait

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 5 January 2022 21:28 (four years ago)

very excited to watch!

No spoilers of course and the templates throughout are, how you say, obvious/resonant, but basically you just learn a hell of a lot about Tatooine and those who live there, and it's handled really well.

Though I *will* say it's also pretty interesting due to the sheer accident of timing that this is running just a couple of months after Dune made a big splash.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 5 January 2022 22:50 (four years ago)

Oh and check the end credits for the cast carefully. There is some REALLY deep original film lore shit going on, trust me.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 5 January 2022 22:52 (four years ago)

Didnt think this show was gonna have boba going on a spirit journey to make his own gaffi stick but i guess everybody gets a backstory these days

i cannot help if you made yourself not funny (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 6 January 2022 07:37 (four years ago)

this was ok, still a bit drab? i also feel lightly outraged that Boba Fett saying “tricky little bugger” is now canon

lemmy incaution (emsworth), Thursday, 6 January 2022 08:58 (four years ago)

When are we getting an Ewoks series?

jel--, Thursday, 6 January 2022 15:17 (four years ago)

But we already did! :-D

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 6 January 2022 15:44 (four years ago)

This was great fun and very weird. Much less "Buck Rogers"-y (as in the 80s TV series) than the first episode - I'm still not into the casting of very "Special Guest Star" tv types in minor roles on these shows. They feel like they've walked off a Donny & Marie skit.

I enjoyed this episode! and without spoiling: showcases the worst most unpleasant method of getting high that i have seen #justsayno

not really familiar with the wider universe & had to look up stuff afterwards but it wasnt a hindrance to my enjoyment of the episode

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 6 January 2022 18:14 (four years ago)

I dug this episode. Like emsowrth upthread, I was a little worried about this show pulling back whatever veil of mystery remained with Fett and over-explaining everything, but this has been a pretty fun ride so far. My 10 year-old, absolutely loves it and has already proclaimed it "better than Mandalorian". I'm not exactly onboard with that sentiment just yet, but it definitely helps my enjoyment to watch him geek out over it.

once again, the theme music is fuckin' great

my god this is great

Ssäm Sauce | Martha Stewart (Sufjan Grafton), Friday, 7 January 2022 04:57 (four years ago)

I thought this episode was fairly boring, and parts were just ridiculous, but my kid seemed really into it. This show seems good for kids. The assault on the train was cool.

i woke up alarmed (morrisp), Sunday, 9 January 2022 04:43 (four years ago)

Pleasantly surprised to see Nat from Yellowjackets show up in this, even if she was dressed like she walked off the set of that show straight onto this one. Her little gang and their Vespa speeders were so goofy though! lol

Still not sure if I’m sold on this show yet but it’s keeping my attention at least

Roz, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 16:43 (four years ago)

That whole hover moped sequence was cringingly bad

groovypanda, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 20:13 (four years ago)

I still don't get why Fett wants to be Don Tatooine in the first place – rather than, say, going anywhere else; finding Han Solo and kicking his ass; etc. (was this made clear at the end of The Mandalorian S2)? I imagine his "motivation" will also come into focus as the flashbacks slowly progress...

i woke up alarmed (morrisp), Wednesday, 12 January 2022 21:22 (four years ago)

He was a bounty hunter like Jango. You can only climb so high hunting the bounties yourself, so it's natural he'd get into management.

Ssäm Sauce | Martha Stewart (Sufjan Grafton), Wednesday, 12 January 2022 21:49 (four years ago)

the show is about Peter Principle

they were written with a ouija board and a rhyming dictionary (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 12 January 2022 21:55 (four years ago)

also the near-death experience in the sarlacc pit and forced time with the tusken raiders has given him this new interest in justice. the Tatooine daimyo seems to have more power than the mayor in shaping daily life for those living there. he disagrees with the Hutt way and wants to change things. perhaps he also enjoys the respect.

Plus, hanging around with space mopeds. (Quadrophrenia mixed with a guy wanting to dress like Doctor Who?)

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 22:23 (four years ago)

Anyway, Danny Trejo.

How did he know those guys who rode by on the speeders were bullies & thugs whom he could justifiably beat up and jack their gear?

i love this show so much and enjoyed this episode a lot

but that was the SLOWEST goddamn chase i have ever watched lmao

I was thinking that but I also kinda liked it for that reason? It made it weirdly more tense!
