This is the Penguins I saw, the eyes seem to be there, thought the real mascot has a wider beak.

That looks like a number of atations on the Merseyrail network

It's not the first one i thought it might be

Which is St Michael's, so that narrows it down a bit

And i think Merseyrail colouring is generally yellow rather than blue

Looking again at the steps it might be a slight optical illusion and we're actually heading down towards the station building

Feel like the brick colour is a clue. Complicated, expensive eaves. Loads of trains on the schedule, has to be London surely? But I'm also getting a Sheffieldous vibe

i feel like it's London but somewhere outer based on the size, but well connected based on the departures board.

board has long names and short names on it. different directions? can't see any tube termini with names that short though, looks like only 4 or 5 letters.

Greater Manchester stations use the blue colour scheme but not finding anything as yet

Could be Scotland - Scotrail stations have blue all over like that. Feel like the key to this would be finding the route that fits the station name lengths on the screen, but can't be bothered with that right now.

It's destinations, I guess, not points on a route.

I bet it's Falkirk or Coatbridge Sunnyside. Something like that. If they are cities. Which they're not.

I has an instinct of Scotland when I first saw it. But my instincts usually, erm, stinc.

I thought it might go from the train monitor in the first image, but it's difficult to tell how clear the words are for other people (especially when you already know what they are). How things appear on my laptop screen and monitor screen is pretty different!

What made you expand to the east? The Peak District ish hill in the distance?

The second pic solidified my hunch that it was Greater Manchester, I'd been concentrating on Salford and Manchester itself but your recent trend towards towns and, yeah, the hills in the distance made me go back and check Stockport and the outer towns

"City" means several related things, ONLY ONE OF WHICH is along the lines of "settlement awarded so-called city status by arbitrary convention or decree within a given jurisdiction or linguistic pocket of this wide world", ffs. To me it seems entirely obvious that cities which city purists insist on calling towns should also be allowed.

New Year, New City

Feels like it could be anywhere from Southern Europe to Palestine/Israel maybe?

clutching at straws here:
- no satellite dishes anywhere? They're banned in Iran, Myanmar, Turkmenistan... Don't know if that's a clue?
- maybe the fencing on the bridge over the railroad it a bit excessive? did lots of people kill themselves there or are the trains important (israeli trains through palestine for instance) (don't know why I keep thinking palestine here to be honest)
- extra lights half way up the light posts? (two of them with bike tyres over them) ?
- some of the cars are French brands but they're sold all over the world, aren't they.
