Guess the City

Well done - haven’t been there for years and I thought it was more red brick than I thought looks on the pic.

do we have a thread about one's personal definition of a city? I feel like this has been coming up a lot lately and it's kind of interesting to think about my own criteria

Quite possibly not ledge, tho I did get a twinkle in my eye when I saw it, the picture having quite a northern town feel

The concrete brutalist-lite blocks make me think this is either a college town or a state capitol. Midwest or Rust Belt, somewhere that was urban-renewed in the 70s?

It's someplace with bleak enough weather that people wear parkas and carry an umbrella when it's that sunny outside....

English speaking based on the "keep clear at all times" sign. but the bicycle markings are puzzling me. can't decide if they mean it's a lhd country or a rhd country.

I've not seen drop curbs like that in the UK though, so I'm ruling that out.

The white car in the distance seems to be driving on the right - assuming that's not a one-way street. Yes obviously a place with cold wet weather and of the six or seven people you can see, they're all white. Could it be some small city in Western US, Colorado or something

If anyone can identify the tree, that might suggest a general geographic location

Wish I could figure out what sign has been removed from the wall - "Accident", "Acclaim" something something, looks to be in Helvetica or Unica or another humanist sans.

Does look like a jacaranda. Doesn't look like Australia though, unless it's some windswept corner of Melbourne docklands or something - but I think squinting at the car in the distance, it's driving on the right.

The sign might say "Adelaide" on further inspection. But that could be the Adelaide Hall or something like that.

There's a red bike there that looks like it's a Vespa - not common in the US, I imagine, but I might be wrong.

I was thinking jacaranda for the tree too, but they are common in SoCal. Could also be Canada, maybe?

the adelaide... seems to continue behind the tree, wonder what it says. and number 60 has some writing under the logo but it's too small to make out.

there's another layer of palimpsest under the police sign, what looks like a roundel near the start of "station". it predates the earliest google picture though.

I thought maybe it was a "W" in the O of "TOGETHER", and the colors remind me of the University of Washington logo, but can't find any spot quite like it there.

I thought it was an N first, and a W would work for the same logic, but I think it might be more abstract which is why I said a castle.
