Usually with these shows about awful people, they tend to try to sand off their rough edges over the years and give them some sympathetic characteristics for viewers to care about. This show goes the Seinfeld/Sunny route and just makes them worse and worse.

Shiv and Roman just say the most awful things to each other and everyone else. Shiv constant negging of Tom is particularly horrible, due to the desperately-sad looks Macfayden creates for Tom. And of course, everything that comes out of Roman's mouth is crafted to be as mean as possible.

What makes this show different is that, for the most part, the meanness is directed at the other awful characters. But that tends to dull the impact of their meanness, since they all deserve all of the shit thrown their way.

I think I'd like to see some character in the show who isn't a POS, but so far, I don't think there are any? This show is so overwhelmingly-cynical that I guess that type of person couldn't even exist in the Roys' orbit. The closest we get are their domestic employees, but they only serve as nameless servants for the Roys to carelessly abuse.

Am I only watching this for plot

God, more than ANYTHING ELSE this episode just made me want to go on a really amazing warm and delicious holiday to Italy.

it would be really great, although seemingly crazy as a choice for the people running the show, if Kendall drowned in the pool

i think it's been the direction everything has been pointing? though i imagine they'll just give him a bit of brain damage or he'll find jesus or something instead.

The whole story starts with Logan's brain starting to fall apart, so closing it with a brain-damaged Kendall, and then brain-damaged father and brain-damaged son finally conceding that neither now has the mental force left to break the sick bond between them, would be a good ending

gotta say the happiest and most in-sync tom and shiv have been all series was when they were bullying greg together

he should stick around to be a kind of stress ball for their marriage

Having read thAt new yorker profile, Strong doesn’t not seem like the sort of person whose character you might drown to get off a popular show, just saying

Unless he was so much of a pain on set (which would be the speculation if Kendall is in fact done).

Also not mentioned yet: the aside early in the episode that a podcast was investigating the drowning Kendall was involved in.

That felt like it was only seasoning Ken's skull for what Logan would deposit later

Did they mention why Naomi wasn't there? Seemed like an odd omission if not.

Just as the fateful boardroom meeting started, I said out loud to Kevin, "Roman's doing too well right now, it can't last". And so it came to pass. But bloody HELL, was Shiv quick to seize the opportunity (earning herself a rare "Pinky" from Logan, always a good sign). I've also been #teamgerri for a long time, now perhaps more than ever, as this has potentially granted her major leverage.

It seemed to me that Shiv had done a line or two before not-quite-sexy-time with Tom (and this might also have been implied with her dancing at K's 40th). The sniffing was quite subtly done, but it was there.

I also liked it that Willa was still gauche enough to remark that their Tuscan room was "nice". She's intriguingly unreadable for most of the time.

i kind of hope kendall is dead. . . don't know where else he could go. . . he's not in the preview for the next weeks episode, of course. (Spoiler!)

I've been so fooled by how competent Roman has been lately that he tricked me, of course he couldn't keep it going, and then Shiv ratting him out and confronting Gerri. . . which was prob my fav scene.

There's a fairly prolific kids' author called Jeremy Strong so I always do a bit of a double-take when I'm browsing in the library, especially today at one called 'My brother's famous bottom'.

He's a tremendous actor but as Brian Cox puts it. . . you don't have to do that, you can just act.

Like, it's all fine if you want to do this kind of prep on your own time, and even if you want to remove yourself from the other actors or talk in the accent constantly or whatever, but if you've reached the stage of disrupting other professionals on set trying to do their jobs properly (as he appears to have done during the Sorkin film), or you're asking people to do extra work to enhance your character work (like asking for special prop photo albums to be made just for you) then you are being unprofessional. At least production crews seem pretty able to rein him in, though, and he seems to take it.
They can all thank their lucky stars he has no sense of humour. Imagine if he was like this and he also liked pranking people.
