Yeah for a second there I really thought Roman was having second thoughts about backing him (like "uh oh this guy means it"), but nope, fully down the dark path. And I had almost forgotten Shiv was still supposed to be a socially liberal democrat.

Tom's signoff to Kendall was one of the best non-joke things he's ever said.

It really felt like a deepening of the show to see Romanâs nihilistic attitude have real consequences (supporting a fascist) rather than just being comic relief.

yeah how everyone came around to fascism was pretty interesting

Weirdly I just watched Only Connect which had a conversation about hating Hamilton, right before watching this. Weird.

― kinder, Monday, 22 November 2021 22:49 (two years ago) link
roman is interesting because on the one hand he's nihilistic enough to support a fascist because he flatters his family and makes him laugh, but also naive enough to get upset about his absentee mom getting engaged without telling him (maybe because he holds out hope of his parents getting back together???)

There's at least one other tv show where there's been a minor plot line about people getting wine made from their own vineyard or similar and obviously it tastes disgusting - anyone remember what else I'm thinking of?

Feel like now Greg won't inherit and has lost all leverage with his grandpa, why would the Roys still have him hanging around? Why don't they just ditch him? I mean, he's still great comedic value but from a plot perspective, he doesn't seem to have a point anymore.

hbo official podcast had a wild guest this week; anthony scaramucci.it seemed like it was more of a letâs see what happens than anythinghe talked about this wkâs episode (sort of, when he wasnât aggrandizing himself lol) and it was as bizarrely unhinged as you would expect - within the first minute he desribes the presidential candidacy process as âthoroughbreddingâ detailing how a donorâs sperm fertilizes a candidateâs egg etc etc and my soul literally shriveled and left my body through the floorhe also loves the word âapotheosisâ & hates shiv (likened her to Elektra) in a way that is depressingly revealing & predictable ._.

During the scene of the family picking a candidate, there were a few odd shots that focused on Greg when he wasnât at all the focus of the scene.

― kinder, Tuesday, 23 November 2021 08:13 (two years ago) link
I think it's partly because he is expendable to them. Kendall's mistake is telling him he intends to burn him, which just pushes him further over onto Logan's side. Logan probably intends to burn him as well, but he isn't going to tell him that.

this episode felt particularly nasty and venomous. i don't mind this show when its rich people eating each other but it gets a bit nauseating when it reminds us we are essentially beneath their notice.
sexual tension with roman and hitler youth guy was partic icky.

Especially when they contrasted it with the trips to Tom's Diner, where the people who will be affected by all this eat their meals, and the atmosphere seemed friendly and low-key.

I bet that diner was great too. I was thinking a lot about the food, it seems like a majority of their meals are probably wedding dinners more or less, ie bland catered affairs? Logan's salad in one of the eps was very bleak.
