My friend walked in on the beachside fight scene trailer and went ' are they making another power rangers movie', lol, it does look kinda terrible, would like it to carry some weight and drama but it also could be a hammy, corny mess

Relatively pepped about Hawkeye, still not remotely excited about The Eternals, which is as much a failure of marketing as it is my own taste (or lack thereof), given it's sort of been rolled out for months now and I still don't care. Sure, Shang-Chi turned out to my liking despite me knowing or caring nothing about the character, but pretty space gods fighting CGI monsters with their laser eyes and fists just isn't drawing me in right now. I think I might sit this one out and wait for the next slate, all of which feature characters that entice me more (as far as any of these movies do).

Apparently it was getting review bombed on Rotten Tomatoes or IMDB or whatever arbitrary bs site was being cited, but overlooked in that debate is that most of the mainstream critic reviews currently aren't that positive, either, at least at this premature point.

have never seen so much negative advance word on an MCU film as I've seen for Eternals. I'd chalked it up to sexism in the fanbase initially but reviewers are also not being kind. I admit this has seriously dampened my interest.

Watching the trailer again honestly maybe the only thing that turns me off about it is the powers they look like they have. They're wearing pretty costumes and they all have brightly colored lasers or weapons that are made of... "powers" that they make appear out of thin air. At a glance it looks like indistinct beams or sword beams or beam orbs or whatever. I do think I saw a dagger that was just an actual dagger for a second and not made out of neon plasma laser beams.

It's also weird how heavily they rely on the guy shooting beams out of his eyes in the trailers, Cyclops did that for many X-Men movies so it's not like some unique new power previously unexplored in these movies.

I mean I've got a ticket for next Thursday night, I'll see what happens. If it's a botch, it's a botch.

Captain Marvel got mediocre reviews and was... fine, really

Not sure about the cast in this - Gemma Chan, Jon Snow and The Bodyguard all together is kind of a potential charisma-free zone.

Pains me to say as a booster for the director but it just looks bad? Self important, snarky, uninteresting casting, hokey design, not much interest or connection with Kirby at all.

For all the mucking about Snyder’s already done, I still think there’s a fun fourth world pic to be made but the eternals, sans FF connection, is a concept in search of a purpose

Karnak happens upon a weed farm and gets into a quick and extremely clunky romance with one of the weed farmers, after which said weed farmer’s partner betrays her, siccing some of their buyers on her for reasons that are barely even contemplated, let alone explained to the audience. Gorgon reunites with Karnak after leaving his bros behind, they beat up the drug dealers, and Karnak’s new lover also leaves so the two can go join the rest of their family.

Just read a mostly positive but still, in the end, negative review of "Eternals" that basically boiled down to "it would have made a great TV show."

Black Bolt killing his parents was amazingly funny

I went into that clip thinking "they're hyping this, it can't actually be that funny" but readers, I was wrong

I love the 60s-70s comics Black Bolt so much and my god the Black Bolt on the show was just nothing, the deadest of fish

Starfox (Eros) shows up in the first. Sersei's boyfriend inherits the Ebony Blade from his ancestors. The voice of Blade (Mashershala Ali) asks him if he's ready for that

Angelina Jolie is extremely bad-ass in a relatively minor supporting role and Brian Tyree Henry ruled

I told the friend next to me that Tyree Henry was outacting everyone on screen. Which isn't to say everyone else is bad but he's always my favorite in every movie or tv show ep he appears in (esp ATL)

lol did you see Godzilla vs Kong? Then again, it's quite possible he was the best thing about that movie, too, I can't remember.

they're linking blade to the eternals? uhhhhh that sounds like a marriage of convenience rather than considered continuity

blade and black knight have continuity by both being british (and thus part of MI-13 in the comics)
