Not sure there's enough in that pic for anyone to get it without another pic. But the towers on the far left are all nestled together in a way that I think rules out Western Europe, North America and probably South America as well. Doesn't narrow it down much, but I'm guessing it's either China or Russia

No, I just went back to my hunch cities (Omsk, Novosibirsk, Khabarovsk, Irkutsk, Yekaterinburg) to look for the new view. I was already pretty set on it being Russia, and most likely east of the Urals. Landed on an aerial in Novosibirsk and became more convinced that was the river, span around and saw the ski jump thing

I'd already looked at the dot next to the river hotel on Friday, but was looking at the main building not the weird cabin.

I was about to start mooching around Novosibirsk based on the bridge having initially thought it looked too picturesque. Interesting that there's only one bridge like that (at least that scale) in the entire country.

French/english calender, plug socket looks european, could be a burgundy/eu passport behind the juice cup with a distinctive logo (though burgundy is not eu exclusive), (A?)TM sign in the background.

Just to speculate wildly and contradict the above, the calendar says July, the clock on one of the computers says 12 something, the sunlight is coming straight through the window so the sun is low - somewhere in the southern temperate zone?

Nobody loves a stamp like the former Soviet Union. The poster in the back right might say Ев. I can’t tell whether the partially blocked sign says TM or ГМ.

It looks like there are a couple of purple passports on the desk, perhaps suggesting Russia, Mongolia or Uzbekistan, if the signs are in Cyrillic.

The books are either round an unusual way or possibly for a language that reads right to left. If it was just one, I’d think it might be a Quran.
