When I was in 5th grade I got sent to the principal's office for wearing a Van Halen shirt that said "Van Halen Kicks Ass"
From that day on I vowed to never stop speaking truth to power

always best when the inflammatory writing is on the back of the shirt, yr teachers and principals often miss it that way.
or if the front of your shirt is pleasant and the back half is the kicker
Front: This School is Great...Back: ...for me to poop on!

She should have rocked a "Soy Bomb" gown.

I was such a rebel at school I had "Mr Devine is a nonce" written in tiny sized microfiche writing on my shirt that looked like a dot!
― calzino, Monday, 20 September 2021 14:31 (four years ago)
Oh "Van Halen Kicks Ass" was on the back, I knew praxis

I had a Hanson Sucks t-shirt but all I had to do was turn it inside out.
― you had me at "giallo" (Neanderthal), Monday, 20 September 2021 15:09 (four years ago)
Did it say "Hanson Rules" on the inside?

My girlfriend and I wore Dead Milkmen shirts for twin day during sprit week back in high school. But while hers read "Soul Rotation" on the back (from their previous album and tour), mine read "Dick Is Coming" (in honor of their upcoming album Not Richard, But Dick). I was no more than 5 steps into the school when the vice principal became aware. Fortunately, another part of our twin day costume was flannels tied around our waists, so we just moved them up to normal shirt position so I could cover up the offense.

I wore a Dead Milkmen shirt and a fellow student ran out crying because her dad was a milkman who was dead
― Muswell Hillbilly Elegy (President Keyes), Monday, 20 September 2021 16:54 (four years ago)
lucky you had those flannels. when I was in 6th grade I went with a friend to see Janet Jackson on the janet. tour. My friend wore a t-shirt to school the next day that featured some variation of the album's cover art, and the vice principal made him wear a lab coat the whole day because that was all he had to cover (this was in June).
― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Monday, 20 September 2021 16:56 (four years ago)
Two of my best friends, brothers, saw the Bell Biv and Devoe concert and came to school the next day in matching "Do Me" t-shirts. No repercussions, other than deep cred.
― Josh in Chicago, Monday, 20 September 2021 17:03 (four years ago)
Another best friend of mine had an array of Amphetamine Reptile shirts that I have no doubt would have offended anyone that read them closely.
― Josh in Chicago, Monday, 20 September 2021 17:04 (four years ago)
I don't even own a potentially offensive t-shirt.
― it is to laugh, like so, ha! (Aimless), Monday, 20 September 2021 17:05 (four years ago)
AOC most likely does, but doesn't wear them in the Capitol Bldg.

I definitely got called into the principal in 5th grade for my Dead Kennedy's shirt, which just had the DK logo and the name on it. They were unhappy, but nothing ever happened and I wore it without problems until the end of the year.

I definitely own several offensive t-shirts lol.
i got in trouble for wearing an arrogant sons of bitches shirt, it really leaned into being offensive by displaying their name about 40 times across the front

their discography CD, which played religiously in my walkman, would now be worth $200 on discogs lmao

i can't believe how long kids were allowed to wear Big Johnson shirts in my middle school. they didn't get banned until the end of 8th grade year, and kids ahd been wearing them throughout my 3 years there.
― you had me at "giallo" (Neanderthal), Monday, 20 September 2021 17:30 (four years ago)
those were *definitely* banned at my elementary and middle school.

I can't remember if Big Johnson shirts were ever banned at my school, but no one seemed to bat an eye at Coed Naked shirts.

You do all see how a single business getting behind or not paying its taxes is not the same as lacking the policy to even tax billionaires in the first place, right?

A-LAX-ON-TAX-ANDRIA OCASIO(nally pays taxes)CORTAX DRESS MESS
― Muswell Hillbilly Elegy (President Keyes), Monday, 20 September 2021 18:42 (four years ago)
I don't see how there is ANY connection to be drawn between AOC's support for increasing taxes on the very wealthy and her wearing a gown designed by a person whose business is behind in its tax payments - especially 18 months into this pandemic, when businesses of all kinds have had their cash flow strangled. This is so far-fetched that only complete idiots, such as Daily Mail readers, could possibly swallow it.
― it is to laugh, like so, ha! (Aimless), Monday, 20 September 2021 18:53 (four years ago)
I did mention the headline might be making something out late taxes rather than tax avoidment schemes but wasn't going to give them a click to investigate further. I posted this disclaimer straight after it! Tax The Rich, but don't be beastly to my very rich friends undermines the message somewhat and hanging out with rich motherfuckers is always going to undermine you when are supposedly a people's champion and a glowing tribune of the left and I'll never believe anything different.

Girls wearing Coed Naked Lacrosse shirts and flannel boxer shorts as regular shorts. Things we need to bring back after we tax the rich.

― Ima Gardener (in orbit), Monday, 20 September 2021 19:19 (four years ago)
AOC actively made the designer as a person and business owner part of her reason for wearing the dress. Makes her business practices fair game.
Her tax issues predate the pandemic so that’s a pretty dumb defense to offer up.
― papal hotwife (milo z), Monday, 20 September 2021 19:20 (four years ago)
Absolutely no defense for a business owner withholding taxes from employees and then keeping them, that should get you thrown in the stocks.
― papal hotwife (milo z), Monday, 20 September 2021 19:21 (four years ago)
that dress gig could have gone to talented fashion student graduate or someone who needed a foot up. Someone who's married to a fucking billionaire ... please!

― it is to laugh, like so, ha! (Aimless), Monday, 20 September 2021 19:28 (four years ago)
Why would she need to when you’re freelancing? Oh those poor small businesses struggling with cash flow during the pandemic of, 2017.

what is purity? I mean a people's champion taking the decision to not hang out with rich arseholes who consistently are opposed to anything approaching socialism isn't any of purity, but it would be an improvement.

I don't think it's a purity issue to recognizing the humorous irony in a "tax the rich" dress made by a rich person who doesn't pay their taxes.
