I caught one episode of the show he works on, it’s not bad. Being the guy tasked with ruining peoples’ chances at a life-changing payday seems like a bummer though.

Richards seems to be from a long line of people that can somehow navigate the corporate world falling upwards while being a total kiss ass to his managers and terrible to anyone around him that cannot help him out. That really seems to be one of the more successful ways to go it seems in any field.

I kind of love that his downfall was tied into him deciding the world needed a behind the scenes pod about The Price Is Right that would somehow go beyond subjects like the origin of Plinko.

The five episodes that Richards shot in his first and only day as “Jeopardy!” permanent host were scheduled to start off the new season on Sept. 13; as of now the plan is to air those episodes, even though he is no longer EP or host

Unlike Holzhauer, Amodio rarely goes all-in on Final Jeopardy. I could see that he didn't know Who Framed Roger Rabbit? last night, because he stared straight ahead for a long time before writing down his answer. But I didn't think he'd lose, because he's been pretty conservative on Final. He sometimes goes all-in on Double Jeopardy questions, and once that put him in negative territory, but he's a much more conservative better than Holzhauer.

Also, fun fact: Eddie Murphy turned down the role that went to Bob Hoskins.

Amodio's loss was kind of like the excellent sports team that wins by a ton week after week and then finally gets in a close game and kinda comes apart at the seams.

questions seemed super easy. otoh, matt got a few obvious ones wrong (spawn dude?!)

he choked and the rough thing was he knew he was choking, otoh it was bound to happen! hate to see a big champ go down squirming though

Yeah, that was surprising. And it seemed like the others' quickness with the buzzer really rattled him. None of his previous opponents came close to him in that regard, and suddenly he had two challengers who were as quick as him (or quicker).

I really wanted the lady in the middle to win, she seemed cool

yeah imagine beating matt and still finishing in second lol. that's rough.

for him to miss a geography based final jeopardy that both other players got correct was really shocking. not that it would've mattered but international geography felt like one of his (many) strong suits through his run. especially one like that where the question inherently narrowed down the answer to essentially a multiple choice set of answers... crazy.

you could tell he was just off kilter the entire second round, which was wild bcuz there were some games where ppl stayed close to him in round 1 and then he would just rip off like 13 of 15 answers in the second round and be up by 25k. even when the buzzer went to him he was out of rhythm, stammering etc. they also stuck both double jeopardies at the top of the board and the one dude getting them back to back pretty much killed any chance matt had at that point. you could tell when the woman in the middle ran through that entire section of medical abbreviations to open the round w/o matt even buzzing in once that something was off

they should do a tournament of players who would’ve won an episode had they just not faced matt. you could easily fill a whole week

i didn't catch friday's episode, so when i turned on monday's saw that amy schneider wasn't one of the contestants my heart dropped. turns out it's just a 2-week college professor special and she'll be back after that--phew!

otm. A week or so ago, one of her challengers had a kind of robotic I MUST WIN JEOPARDY thing happening, and beat Amy to the buzzer a bunch of times in the first round. Amy didn't seem rattled in the least, even when she was in negative territory, and cleaned up on Final.

the squash player! she was full on terminator mode, scared me from home. a really good player, would've won any other day but amy got that juice.

anyways, i have my follow-up at home audition tomorrow. second time through the process!

Yeah, the squash player, I just thought, there's no way she can keep up that insane hyper-focused energy through the entire show, much less multiple shows. She lost a lot on a Double, and never regained her momentum. But while she was buzzing in, she was definitely impressive.

This season's Tournament of Champions is gonna be lit.
