fair number of people on twitter seem to unable to comprehend the plot of the movie which makes me worry about, well, a lot of things

like, this movie is quite a bit easier to follow than any number of Marvel films and I can't imagine anyone finding it 'boring' but that seems to be an opinion that is held.

If ever there was a movie that didn't need a plot it's this one, and it came really close to just such an achievement.

This was terrific. The perfect dumb, gory fun and some absolutely gorgeous sequences.

I do kinda miss the Ron Funches version of King Shark from the most recent Harley cartoon

i carved out room for Watchmen by specifying feature-length. probably could have extended the window to 35 years or whatever to include the Burton Batman. mostly just leaving room for Superman II lol.

I'm just being a dick about the fact that none of these are adaptations.

I'm with the conventional wisdom, it was both fun and too long — there were a couple of intermediary fight scenes that could have been saved for the MORE GORE cut, and there was a tendency for the battles to make me feel like I feel when I watch my kids play video games — I understand that somebody is having fun here, but I'm aware it's not me.

It does feel very much like they just told Gunn, "Make us a Guardians of the Galaxy movie, but with these characters," and he delivered as ordered.

It doesnt take itself v seriously — and you dont have to know the characters to enjoy the movie as presented, it gives you a lot to enjoy as is

Christ, this was really, really fucking funny. I was laughing very hard at some of the needle drops.

As for the length, somebody mentioned elsewhere that this felt like reading a proper 6- or 12-issue trade, and I agree with that, and enjoyed it b/c of it

This was fun! Felt more like a 2000AD sensibility than a DC one (i.e. thrilling immoral violence, lightly done) but that's probably why it works. It was MUCH TOO LONG though.
