I've been a twitter user for years, but have been using it a lot more in the past month or so (I know, probably a bad sign) and noticed something kinda fucked up. I was wondering if any more advanced users here could help me out.

I followed someone a couple weeks ago because I really wanted to see their tweets. I was like "I like this person and want to keep on top of what they're up to." Since then, I spent way too much time on twitter and never saw any tweets from that account. Just now I remembered that I had followed them, and went to check their profile - they had been tweeting the whole time! Meanwhile, I had seen some posts in the timeline multiple times. Like as if twitter was showing them to me again because it had run out of content.

Do you have to tweak some setting on Twitter in order to see all the content from the people you follow?

There’s a little toggle (top right on my app) where you can choose for your feed to display chronological or “highlights,” might be that?

bear in mind that if you switch it to chronological ('latest') it arbitrarily switches itself back every now and then ¯\(°_o)/¯

yes you want "latest tweets" rather than "home" (which shows "top tweets")

and yes you will likely have to recalibrating this, bcz as ledge says it ust loves to switch you back to " top tweets"

also they seem to have been trailing removing "latest tweets" altogether from some accounts, tho apparently if you make a fuss (tweet crossly about this copying in the machine-masters) they will reverse this

also if you have more than one account and switch between them it always defaults to home for the one yr logging into

they used to switch me back to 'top tweets' almost daily but lately they've been allowing it to stay and i've decided i'm back in team latest-tweets

same here, though I worry that's because I'm using it way more

I used @getvicarious to create and sync a list of all accounts I’m following, set that list to be reverse chron, named it “Latest” and pinned it, and now I can quickly swipe between ranked (algorithm) and all tweets as they happen

it's a useful metric of being/not being a cunt - you use twitter in pref to facebook? off you trot & a soldier's farewell to ye. yeah it's arbitrary & yeah well actually facebook sucks too but it mostly works, life's short.

hmmm, looks like they've finally made it where you can't click through to read full threads/replies without creating a Twitter account and logging in. that's a lot of time i won't be wasting anymore!

Try clearing your cookies. I've been dealing with that in incognito only for some reason (still get the popup in normal chrome but can just X out normally) and even then, if you open the tweet in a new tab you should be able to scroll normally. This is for PC only, I can't get it to work on mobile.

yeah go in your browser and block twitter cookies. in chrome it's like "never allow cookies from this site" or something.

This worked so well! It doesn't help that the toggle for "Latest Tweets" just looks like a decorative little star. I have since been able to see the tweets of the person I followed*. So thank you Finefinemusic! Also seems to have had the beneficial side-effect of doing away with those irritating "Marky Ramone and Nile Rodgers liked Bette Midler's tweet" recommendations.

*Juni Ba, for the record. And it's not that he is some ultimate tweetmaster or something. It's just that he made a graphic novel I really like - Djeliya. It fucking rules.
