yes. i am very lucky in that my only current interaction with it is to beg for a refill for depression medication every 3 months. if i had to go for chronic treatment i think i would explode

i ran a very interesting instagram story "poll" last night (i'm at @zach_tbd there btw).

i asked people what kind of price range they would be most interested in, if they thinking about buy something of mine. instagram is kinda dumb so i could only have 4 options (and i had to pick a "correct" answer, lol), and there was no option to select multiple options or all of the above. but it came out like this:

7 - $10-$30 (zines, tapes, small prints, etc)
10 - $30-$100 (smaller works on paper; acrylic or watercolor)
9 - $100-$250 (smaller acrylic/oil works on canvas)
3 - $500+ (oil on larger canvases)

which was about what i was thinking it would be! personally, when i buy art, it's usually in that first or second category - rarely over $75. it's really useful to me to know the distribution, though, because i think i've been spending a bit too much time on large canvases, paintings that take me weeks and weeks and that i revise a million times. i'll still do those, but i need to pepper in more smaller, one-night paintings and drawings.

i am also going to start making prints, i think. not of paintings, though. i had a really good, long conversation with a friend of mine who adamantly against selling prints. i don't 100% agree with her, but i did come away thinking that while i would make prints of things that i make on my computer, or prints of sketches or drawings or whatever, i won't do prints of larger paintings, at least for now;

i rehabbed my very first attempt at oil painting, which was a painting of the shed outside the cabin i stayed at up in stoner ridge WI. the background was interesting, the trees, but the shed was awful. so it felt really good to turn it upside-down and just paint over the whole thing. i feel like i did right by the ethos of stoner ridge, and it only took me a few hours and is small so i'll be able to sell it for less than other things! #feelinggood

smaller/acrylic things will be around $50-150, while larger/oil things will be $300-$1 BILLION. i will be taking "bids" during the day and then determining who gets what by the time i pass out. my way of making things ok is that if I get a large, life-altering bid, that life-altering bid will go toward mutual aid instead of me. so lurker, that 10x volume of the ilx poster, hypothetically, if you're out there and are wealthy, please just give me money so i can make a big donation. that is my "scheme" and i would love if white wealthy people would give me their money

i did ok last night! i sold about $850 worth of stuff. that's definitely a bit below my living costs for the month, haha, but I'm reminding myself that when i started on this life/art scheme i told myself that it would probably take a least a year or two before i start breaking even each month. i feel pretty good about where i'm at so far!

i think the latter, but i'm not sure. i only ran across stuff a few years ago, but i imagine he's probably in the standard art school curriculum? i have no idea what the kids learn

about done with this one, i think, though as always i'm looking at it now and i see so much that i want to work on still. i've spent way too much time on it, though, along with its cursed twin, that green one on the right.

this is my first big commission that i started at my new (well, not new now) space, so i'm hoping they'll like it. but either way, it'll probably be the last of its size (40x60") because those are difficult (for me) to sell at the moment.

i will paint like the wind - quickly, everchanging, floating, fast, invisibly, through porous objects, under the doorcracks, out of the windows, anonymously

but also, like none of those things, and with a brush, getting it all over myself in the process and then accidentally biting my nails and getting paint in my mouth, raving mad, drinking in the studio, smoking, and listening to master of puppets over and over while reminding myself that i don't really approve of this kind of paranoid, drunk raging pointing accusing hetfield persona of the era, but goddamn it's so good
