there are no rules about what direction your car must face when you park it in the UK (unlike the US, and like most of the rest of the world). so that's not dispositive.

but the above ground power cables and flat roofs make me think this could be the US, not the UK.

Above ground cables could be phone lines, still common in the UK.

defer to calzino on that but those are heavy guage twisted cables, which would be unusual for phone lines IIUC.

i agree the buildings look extremely weird for the US. but they aren't right for the UK either imo. the argument for US is the flat roofs. argument against US is the lack of a stoop.

the lack of double yellow lines on a tight corner like this also seems wrong for the UK.

the siding (clapboard?) on the end terraces also seems wrong for the UK.

last thing: you do get cars like that in the US obviously, but they are much more common in europe.

I've never been to Belgium, but the link StanM posted does look extremely similar to the original photo, both in terms of buildings and the style of the sidewalks.

I take back my assertion that it's the UK: it does feel pretty Belgian, or that corner of Europe in any case. Terrace houses and those window curtains made me think north of England, but the door on that very small narrow terrace doesn't look very British. There's a particular kind of cladding on the walls on either side of the road - that might narrow things down a bit.

the slate tiles? I thought that was pretty common too - still no clue where in Belgium to actually look, though.

OK definitely not UK. Could be Belgium but could also be France up near the Belgian border like Lille or something - balcony and blinds look a bit French.

No, those are belgian plates (white background with red letters/numbers and the blue B to the left + street sign with blue background and white letters) - I'm still 100% thinking Belgium but that raised train stop with the weird roof... NO idea. Damn!

... but maybe it IS Lille though - they don't call that part of France "French Flanders" for nothing :D

The thing that stands out to me is the lack of any markings on the street. Seems odd.

Something about the way the sky and the clouds look makes me think this is near the seacoast

Based on my Google Streetview trawling, it seems the lack of painted street marks is more typical of Belgian than French cities, but I could be wrong.

Yeah there doesn't appear to be an awful lot to differentiate these 4 views in terms of clues

- I'm guessing it's a T and the last letter of the name of the stop?

- This community still has alternate-side parking (blue sign on the third picture with a red circle and 1 \ 15 (no parking on this side of the road from the 1st to the 15th of the Month) )
so... that third picture was taken in the second half of a Month and this last one (cars parked on the other side) in the first half - however, this doesn't help as there's no list of places in Belgium that have this type of parking (that I know of)

- Is there a street name sign on that house in the middle of the last picture?

- those three houses are awfully small - are they 19th century original workers' terraces, maybe near a coal mine? (but then other ex-industrial locations like Charlerloi also had terraces I guess)

- are those parking spots just behind the corner in the last picture? (also doesn't mean anything, you can park your car there and then go into that dark entry to the stairs and up to the train/tram stop)
