Craig Murray, the former ambassador to Uzbekistan, is due to start prison time imminently after judges ruled his blog coverage of Salmond's trial could identify four complainers.

blimey. These days you get arrested and thrown in jail for being an annoying dickhead!

I was pleased & proud to provide a personal testimonial in court for Apsana. I did so because in my opinion this young woman has displayed an integrity, sincerity & dedication to upholding what is right, all the time I have known her. She is an excellent MP and a superb socialist https://t.co/d6zAROdK06

it sounds like someone did a horrible job on her there, it's way beyond just merely very stressful to have endure shit like this based on malicious false accusations. It can almost kill you.

calzino, Friday, 30 July 2021 17:36 (four years ago)

Tensions between the MP and the council I think. Very nasty.

The one left-wing Tower Hamlets councillor I know of was celebrating this decision.

xyzzzz__, Friday, 30 July 2021 17:38 (four years ago)

Honestly just when you think the Labour Party can't sink any lower you find find out that Apsana Begum's abusive ex-husband was on the housing subcommittee of the council that was suing her for housing fraud.

something similar happened to my mum decades ago, after she had told a neighbour who worked in a benefits office to fuck off

Local government, full of wankers.

Wouldn't disgrace a Michael Jackson (Tom D.), Friday, 30 July 2021 17:48 (four years ago)

Damned Utd still possibly as close as we'll ever get to a great football novel

Sir Keir Starmer is trying to persuade wealthy donors, including the founder of the outsourcing company Capita, to donate money in an effort to repair the Labour Party’s finances as staff threaten strike action.

The Labour leader has spoken to a member of the Sainsbury family and to a billionaire property developer as staff at the party HQ face redundancy.

Others who are being asked for donations include an heiress to the Tetra Pak fortune, the granddaughter of the founder of River Island, and the former executive chairman of Capita.

lol the beetroot faced desperado doing erotic table dancing for rich people that don't a flying fuck about a Labour Party that is never going to get elected

the wretched man is said to be a millionaire, and has at least an £80k salary. I'd imagine he's much more financially solvent than the Labour Party is, yet....

Wallace, the defence secretary, was one of 10 MPs who took advantage of corporate hospitality worth £3,547 from Gibraltar-based Entain, the owner of Ladbrokes, to watch England play in the Euros at Wembley.

Jonathan Reynolds, the shadow work and pensions secretary, took the same £3,547 package from Entain

it's time to start seriously talking about gulags and summary executions again

According to shadow minister for domestic abuse and safeguarding, the expectation of solidarity to a victim of domestic abuse is divisive. https://t.co/2YmUgizoNQ

— Holly (@holski_beat) July 31, 2021

Babs had to be shamed into expressing empathy with a colleague who was a victim of domestic abuse and malicious reporting, which I guess wouldn't have been necessary if Begum was white and one of her right-wing transphobic Karen buddies.

Thanks to the team @AdmiralSlots on King Street today for a great visit. Pleased to hear about how gambling safely and responsibly is an absolute priority for the staff. Regulars often pop in to socialise and have a cuppa ☕️ 🎰 pic.twitter.com/AMSNTx4AoF

Labour MP Emma Lewell-Buck from a poverty stricken NE constituency is very much the personification of Starmerism if there is anything it stands for.

if you wander into one of them places you might be thinking there is a hole in your wallet. I just find it hilarious how a Labour MP would think it is perfectly ok to brazenly shill for the gambling lobby and not expect it to be taken as damaging to their rep and lol ..integrity. That reply above sure is dumb. Yeah cos outside the "metropolitan elite" zones we are way more tolerant of corrupt greedy politicians lining their fucking pockets with betting lobby handouts.

Dismissing the opinions of vast swathes of the electorate because of their geographical location maybe not the best way to win voters over, did she not get the memo?

that other betting lobby stooge Dughan is putting in his oar over the Emma Bucks debacle. Every one of these indecent crooked Labour bastards are amongst the worst people in the UK. Worse than fucking Tories.

calzino, Saturday, 31 July 2021 17:28 (four years ago)

So, one party is sailing hard towards the abyss, and the other wants to go a bit slower plz.

Mark G, Saturday, 31 July 2021 18:47 (four years ago)

possibly even that derisive take is a bit flattering towards this bunch of bastards.

calzino, Saturday, 31 July 2021 20:00 (four years ago)

Have to agree with Calzino.

the pinefox, Sunday, 1 August 2021 07:51 (four years ago)

that Emma Lewell-Buck is a wrong 'un and as ever there are questions about her husband's employment as her assistant and also when previously he was a care worker there were complaints of elder abuse, missed care calls, homophobic comments and fraud made against him. Such a lovely couple!

calzino, Sunday, 1 August 2021 08:14 (four years ago)

was just looking back at old stories about the UK gambling lobby and remembered that Tory sports minister Tracey Crouch resigned in 2019, after a spat with Phil Davies over FOBT reforms and in protest against the power of the lobby. Yeah she's a horrible Tory MP and a Spurs fan, but she's still got more integrity than lots of Labour MPs that love a good VIP hospitality package from the bookies.

that whole thread is extraordinary. he continues to show his arse, bringing pinochet into the discussion, conflating right wing dictatorships with left wing election victories.
as has been said many times this is the real reason corbyn was hated, sabotaged and thrown out, he didn't stick to the CIA narrative about the world outside, and the plp knew this jeopardised everything about their philosophy
