That quote is old, though.

Related to his training for Nobody, potentially related as far as how far he has pushed his body in the past two years.

... (Eazy), Wednesday, 28 July 2021 13:01 (four years ago)

I was really hoping it'd be a case of dehydration or something from a long day of filming in the heat, but the lack of follow-up this morning has me concerned. I'm really pulling for him.

I will share what I know when I can but Bob is one of the strongest people I know both physically and spiritually. He WILL get through this.

Gotta be honest, seeing that this morning was not as reassuring as I'd hoped.

a superficial sheeb of intelligence (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 28 July 2021 14:47 (four years ago)

Agreed the wording feels like an implication of something more long term and/or that much more critical in the short term. Particularly disconcerting to put it that way when preceding the announcement of the cause vs. the other way around when it would normally be reassuring following it.

Evan, Wednesday, 28 July 2021 16:59 (four years ago)

Honestly, could be lots of things, simple or not. Maybe when he fell (because of the heat, say) he hit his head on something. I really hope whatever it is can be taken care of quickly.

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 28 July 2021 17:16 (four years ago)

Of course, was just agreeing with jon regarding where David's tweet makes the mind go.

Evan, Wednesday, 28 July 2021 17:19 (four years ago)

yea the lack of any update is pretty concerning right now

frogbs, Wednesday, 28 July 2021 17:45 (four years ago)

:( very worrying. if it was something innocuous there would be an update or he would be out by now surely.

《Myst1kOblivi0n》 (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 28 July 2021 17:59 (four years ago)

It must be surreal to be a public person and need to immediately update the world on your health status

(I hope he's ok of course, I know we all love Bah Bodenkirk)

hard to think of a hollywood star as universally beloved/talented

Yours in Sorrow, A Schoolboy: (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 28 July 2021 19:01 (four years ago)

I mean, trying not to draw and conclusions and keeping him in my thoughts. I just remember seeing the news last night before I went to bed and thinking, "well, it'll be fine and I'll wake up to news about dehydration or heat exhaustion" or something.

Further update

Just got off the phone with Bob and he's doing great! Joking and japing and joshing. Both he and his family are overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and concern everyone has shown. You will be hearing from him soon. But he's doing really well!!!

btw

Hi.  It's Bob.
Thank you.
To my family and friends who have surrounded me this week.
And for the outpouring of love from everyone who expressed concern and care for me.  It’s overwhelming. But I feel the love and it means so much.

and the follow-up, confirming things

I had a small heart attack. But I'm going to be ok thanks to Rosa Estrada and the doctors who knew how to fix the blockage without surgery.
Also, AMC and SONYs support and help throughout this has been next-level. I'm going to take a beat to recover but I'll be back soon.

two months pass...

I have a zero-percent chance expectation they’ll close this series with Neil Young’s “Albuquerque” for varying reasons but if they did…

Western® with Bacon Flavor, Sunday, 10 October 2021 04:21 (four years ago)

one month passes...

episode 5.7

i'm starting to get bad feelings about all this because we know there's only one more series after this, 13 more episodes, and kim doesn't show up in Breaking Bad. it's going to be the german engineer all over again.

(series 5 seems a bit down on 4. i mostly liked idea of the warehouse with chalets inside it.)

I like to think that she'll eventually give up on him, move away, and have a nice life, lol

i hope to god they give her a series of her own

When Young Sheldon began to rap (forksclovetofu), Monday, 22 November 2021 20:15 (four years ago)

BCS isnt quite as brutal as BB was so I think Kim will probably survive but will be in a position where she's not really in his life anymore. or at least to the point where she wouldn't be relevant to the events of Breaking Bad

I'm curious how much of S5 is gonna focus on Saul as Gene the pretzel guy. all those black and white season opening scenes have gotta be leading to something big. for me the big question is if Jimmy & Kimmy meet up in the "afterlife" somehow

gonna be weird for those who decide to watch this all "in order" and encounter Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad looking 12 years younger than he was in the prequel

frogbs, Monday, 22 November 2021 20:18 (four years ago)

that kind of suspension of disbelief is essential for any "prequel." what about the flashback scenes to chicago when jimmy was in "his 20s" or whatever lol

grove street (party) direction (voodoo chili), Monday, 22 November 2021 20:21 (four years ago)

its a big pet peeve of mine, not only because the make-up and hair look so unnatural when they do this but also because the voice isn't right. especially with Bob Odenkirk who sounds a lot more gravelly these days. I'm sure there are 2000 posts about this but it distracted me a lot in The Irishman because even though "young" DeNiro looked somewhat real he moved and talked like an 80 year old man. it was real uncanny valley shit. I bet you could find a lot of great actors willing to do a young Bob Odenkirk.

frogbs, Monday, 22 November 2021 20:40 (four years ago)

since this is the Breaking Bad universe I'll also say it was unsettling when they did this in Malcolm in the Middle, where they'd flash back to Hal & Lois as newlyweds and they'd just put wigs, goofy clothes, and 5 points of makeup on them. conversely the one episode they did where they flashed back to Lois in high school where they actually cast a young woman was really cool and obviously way more believable

frogbs, Monday, 22 November 2021 20:42 (four years ago)

i think CGI technology has done wonders for this kind of stuff these days

Punster McPunisher, Monday, 22 November 2021 21:23 (four years ago)

they also did that in breaking bad a few times–cranston shaved, used his real full head of hair and called it a day
