Zvuki Mu, possibly the most unusual, unexpected band to get an album produced by Brian Eno.

Looks like Chuck E Weiss has passed.

"Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. My friend since childhood, musician, club owner, all around big deal in the Los Angeles music scene, and the protagonist of Rickie Lee Jones’ world hit, CHUCK Es IN LOVE, Chuck E Weiss passed away last night."

Jazz drummer and member of the Vince Guaraldi Trio, Jerry Granelli. That's him playing the drums on Charlie Brown Christmas.

"Granelli "pretty much played with everybody" as a session musician, Reilly said, and performed with the likes of the Grateful Dead, Lou Rawls, Mose Allison, Sly Stone and, of course, Vince Guaraldi."

Charles Radcliffe: early Peace Movement activist, and member of the English Situationists (credited as 'political advisor' to the Jefferson Airplane on their Volunteers album).

I read his autobiography a few years ago, which is an exhaustive 900 page 'cultural document' containing accounts of the early London Blues scene (Eric Clapton was a flatmate), and the visits by US Blues artists to London in '63 and '64, among many other entertaining diversions.

Luna Schlosser, Friday, 23 July 2021 10:26 (four years ago)

Jackie Mason, who definitely fell into my ‘people you didn’t realize etc’ category.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 25 July 2021 00:45 (four years ago)

Here’s a finger for Jackie. Rip

Josefa, Sunday, 25 July 2021 01:06 (four years ago)

Worked with jackie mason like 12 years ago and he was not all there

Its big ball chunky time (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Sunday, 25 July 2021 03:30 (four years ago)

For $300 via Cameo, you could hire Jackie Mason to do a small video routine for friend or foe. His intro video was... not quite there. Felt bad that he was a Trumper for the last couple years, but I guess that's the fate of professional angry dudes.

Elvis Telecom, Sunday, 25 July 2021 05:37 (four years ago)

RIP. Saw him on a street in London once, pretty sure he was getting out of a limo.

Wouldn't disgrace a Michael Jackson (Tom D.), Sunday, 25 July 2021 08:42 (four years ago)

I remember hearing a very bad late period set of his on R4 something like 20 years ago and he was doing a monologue about mobile phones eh? what's the point of them .. are they just a means for unemployed people to talk to each other while they walk the streets!

MoMsnet (calzino), Sunday, 25 July 2021 09:29 (four years ago)

Woolf & Stein 3d (wins), Sunday, 25 July 2021 17:04 (four years ago)

he's the one walked into a precinct and gunned down the captain for no fucking reason!

MoMsnet (calzino), Sunday, 25 July 2021 17:09 (four years ago)

He shot a man in Reno just to make him laugh?

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 25 July 2021 17:48 (four years ago)

Otelo Saraiva de Carvalho, one of the military captains who ushered in the Carnation Revolution in Portugal. That the first obituary I found in the international press comes from the Financial Times is an irony I'm sure he would have appreciated.

Dieter Brummer, former hottie Shane from Home and Away, only 45... the euphemistic article suggests it might have been suicide :(

:(((

That’s sad. Odd how you recognise an actor’s name in an instant, after not thinking about them for over 25 years.

Chuck_Tatum, Monday, 26 July 2021 16:46 (four years ago)

Yeah, same. I guess that daily exposure in the credits really helps it stick.

Alba, Monday, 26 July 2021 17:14 (four years ago)

i had such a crush on him, he was a cutie

nickn, Tuesday, 27 July 2021 21:07 (four years ago)

Wow. He was a monster drummer.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 27 July 2021 21:39 (four years ago)

That sucks. He was an amazingly talented drummer. I only met him once while I worked at Roadrunner, and it was in 2014 or 2015 when he was just starting to come back; we shot a video where he and Mike Mangini from Dream Theater sat around talking about drums and kind of interviewing each other.

I knew she was in films I’d seen by other directors I liked but had to look at that link to be reminded what they were. Wonder if I can still alter my ballot and resend it to Eric.

A lot of those old 60's/70's Leeds Utd players have been going fast in the last two years.

calzino, Saturday, 31 July 2021 22:51 (four years ago)

That’s true. I’m a tiny bit too young to remember him turning out for Leeds but he managed Exeter in the late 80s / early 90s so to me he’s that guy rather than the Leeds full back. He built (probably) our best ever team; he will always be loved by our lot.

Tim, Sunday, 1 August 2021 05:32 (four years ago)

A very good player, I believe, so why he only got 20 England caps while Mick Mills got 200 is a mystery.

Soundtracked by an eco jazz mixtape. (Tom D.), Monday, 2 August 2021 12:23 (four years ago)

If fuzzy memories of childhood are any guide, I think there was a shadowy cabal at Panini picking the England team ahead of Ron Greenwood. So many Mick Mills stickers.

Co-founder of Bread & Puppet Theater.

What she and Peter made, thousands of enormous faces in farm buildings in a Vermont field, gigantic expressive bodies at rest, tiny beings, caricatures, demons, pests--brought back from the dead--spared! at random each week for a circus. Great American artists, mark me https://t.co/nYbkMpaeqL
