78 is the best of the lot.

Is that the "old" Stereo on Kelvinhaugh Street? Still not been since it reopened, although I walked past it the other week and it looked ace.
― a tiny, faltering megaphone (grimly fiendish), Wednesday, 15 July 2009 16:47 (sixteen years ago)
Sure is. It's really cosy and they have Samuel Smith's cheap and tasty Taddy Lager on tap.
― Stew, Wednesday, 15 July 2009 17:17 (sixteen years ago)
i was at 78 last wednesday for their 'dub and grub' night - place was REALLY busy/crowded
― Ward Fowler, Wednesday, 15 July 2009 17:26 (sixteen years ago)
I am tempted to believe it is better than Mono and Stereo, yes. Also nearer the Clyde Tunnel for taxis home, which makes it a winner in my book. Those wobbly high seats in Stereo are totally rubbish, I was in with Madchen and Stet last week and we were all rather precarious. Mono has gone up a wee bit in my estimation since they started serving real Guinness and not that Sam Smith's shite, and also by comparison to the Note, which was full of smelly metallers.
― ailsa, Wednesday, 15 July 2009 17:27 (sixteen years ago)
The sofa was good, though.
― Madchen, Wednesday, 15 July 2009 17:44 (sixteen years ago)
sofa so good
dr c might like the rec shop in mono?
― Ward Fowler, Wednesday, 15 July 2009 17:49 (sixteen years ago)
Sofa was good, yes, until I had to try to manoeuvre my broken arse out of it (though after six pints, two ibuprofen and two co-codamols, I'd stopped feeling anything the pain by that point)
― ailsa, Wednesday, 15 July 2009 18:04 (sixteen years ago)
Am I to understand there is a meet-up in the works? If I'm about I'll put my social hat on and come along.
― krakow, Sunday, 19 July 2009 09:41 (sixteen years ago)
food is best in stereo; anything else is just challops
― cozwn, Sunday, 19 July 2009 12:56 (sixteen years ago)
When I come I don't need food, just ale. Food is OK if general concensus though. What are Mono and Stereo?
Hope you can make it Ailsa!
― Dr.C, Sunday, 19 July 2009 14:27 (sixteen years ago)
shame the west brewery is stupidly far away from everything. st. mungos beer is A++
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Sunday, 19 July 2009 14:32 (sixteen years ago)
though obv i am a total west-ender, and going east of saltmarket is just inconceivable
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Sunday, 19 July 2009 14:33 (sixteen years ago)
bad but understandable attitude
― conrad, Sunday, 19 July 2009 14:56 (sixteen years ago)

― Keith, Sunday, 19 July 2009 15:16 (sixteen years ago)

Dr Freud! Quick, come and see what he's said now ...
― a tiny, faltering megaphone (grimly fiendish), Sunday, 19 July 2009 15:24 (sixteen years ago)
Well, believe it or not it was actually just a subtle 'can we not go to Mono' point!
― Keith, Sunday, 19 July 2009 15:38 (sixteen years ago)
Tuesday is now fine because the football's on the Wednesday, was going to have to be a pub with a telly if the Champions League qualifier second leg was on the Tuesday. My attendance is entirely dependent on holiday plans now. Hopefully we can make it though, would be good to meet Dr C.

― Keith, Sunday, 19 July 2009 18:34 (sixteen years ago)
Gukbe: they sell St Mungo's in the Bier Halle on GWR. They even have the West stein-style glasses. Also I think maybe the Goat? Should check it out.
(Hello all. To the people I know: yes, I've not been around in a while, but I am trying ILX more.)
― mdg, Sunday, 19 July 2009 18:40 (sixteen years ago)

― krakow, Sunday, 19 July 2009 21:20 (sixteen years ago)
you've met me, for about thirty seconds!

it's the protocol!
― El Tomboto, Sunday, 19 July 2009 21:47 (sixteen years ago)

― Dr.C, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 22:00 (sixteen years ago)
I'm in. I'm 99% sure I'll be on a 10am start that day, so I should be done by 6.30-7pm and can hoy along and glug beer wherever you and the others might choose to meet. (Note how I'm absolving myself of any responsibility for choosing a venue there.)
― grimly fiendish, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 22:03 (sixteen years ago)
I'll be there
― Keith, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 22:48 (sixteen years ago)

― Madchen, Wednesday, 29 July 2009 13:33 (sixteen years ago)
Gah!
― ailsa, Wednesday, 29 July 2009 13:38 (sixteen years ago)
I have it in my head that Dr C is a real ale kind of guy. that requires a real pub.
How do people feel about the Pot Still? It is great, and we have been there before with little dissent.
― ailsa, Wednesday, 29 July 2009 13:56 (sixteen years ago)
Ha, yes- real pubs are very much appreciated, but I'll leave it up to you folks. The Pot still looks great - my drinking capacity is somewhat reduced at the moment, so I won't be demolishing gallons of whiskey. Good ales are OK though.
― Dr.C, Wednesday, 29 July 2009 14:32 (sixteen years ago)
the pot = the pewter pot?
― ken "save-a-finn" c (ken c), Wednesday, 29 July 2009 14:42 (sixteen years ago)
No, Ken, the Pot Still is a real pub.
http://www.scotchwhisky.net/bars/potstill.htm
(don't click the link to www.thepotstill.co.uk, as it doesn't go anywhere?)
― ailsa, Wednesday, 29 July 2009 14:57 (sixteen years ago)
no idea why I put a question mark there, sorry.
These things happen Ailsa, don't beat yourself up about it!
I will email a couple of people my mobile number before tuesday just in case my plans go awry - Shall I send it to Ailsa and Grimly?
I hope to have time to visit Fopp before ale - which one is best/biggest? Or is there anywhere else better for cheapo recds? I can't be arsed to trek too far though as I think I will be arriving around 4pm, so won't have much time.
― Dr.C, Wednesday, 29 July 2009 15:16 (sixteen years ago)
Aye, send away, I've got most people's number who might want to go.
You probably want the Fopp on Union Street. Where are you arriving from/where are you staying/how long are you around? Mono, much as I can't be arsed with it, has a good record shop just off the bar (though not particularly cheap).
