Sure but they also voted for Corbyn in the first place - post-2019 panic was perhaps inevitable but equally Starmer's doing everything possible to show that a more centrist approach yields zilch and I'd imagine a lot of the younger voters in particular would be less inclined to fall for the same trick twice.

even there was a possibility of electing a genuine left-wing leader it would have to be someone incredibly thick-skinned and resilient and with no skeletons in the closet, not even minor youthful indiscretions like joking about spying for Putin. God knows, it would probably be cruel to subject this onto to some of the younger more likable SCG MP's. Maybe an old gammon-lite grey blur like Andy McDonald, who seems pretty decent and principled and mediocre and well liked. My recollection is that Corbyn's nomination in 2015 was seen by some of his nominators as a fig-leaf - "it'll look bad if we don't have someone from that wing" - and that he wouldn't have been re-nominated in 2016 if he didn't have an automatic bye as the incumbent.

yeah they didn't count on the entryism and Corbynmania that followed. Margaret Beckett later admitted she wouldn't have nominated him if she knew he had a realistic chance of winning and she even cried tears of regret ;; These lads only like party democracy and party members when they vote how they are supposed to vote.
