Yes, I was looking all over the place, but I kept coming back to Hermosa Beach, since the street signs were the right shape and color.

the low rise relatively dense vibe feels like hermosa or manhattan beach to me, but they have no k street.

the only coastal k street i can find in CA is in san diego, but it's way bigger than this one, unless this is an alley behind k street.

I looked on zillow for price estimates and in the original picture, the house on the left (xmas tree) is estimated at $2.3M and the one next door (behind penis umbrella) is $2.6M.

first guess: maybe this is germany. but no obvious major port so not hamburg or bremen. maybe that's a lake then. but this is too nice for berlin (where the lakes are) so my guess is ... potsdam (on the basis that it's next to berlin but nicer and more verdant). general vibe is quite like this but this view has too many churches/towerblocks https://www.360cities.net/image/nikolaikirche-potsdam-skyline and if i'm right i certainly can't find the spot.

Blocky apartment blocks lining wide boulevards did made me think of post-Soviet Europe...

there's also a distinct lack of churches which east germany or even further east, although there are some pretty ritzy chateaux type buildings

Blowing the photo up, it seems to be the sea on the horizon, then a narrow isthmus of land, then a narrow body of water - lake or head of a river - then the city. I think.

yeah all the individual buildings and look like fancy bits of germany or france (even the apartment buildings), same with the trees, but the almost complete absence of churches is not right.

that foreground roundabout with an ornamental lake/island in the middle (?) should be distinctive.

Yes I've been looking, and failing, up in that neck of the woods! The city seems to have a pretty distinctive geography - at the head of a river I think, separated from the sea by a narrow stretch of land.

This reminds me of another town on a river which we did a few months back, which turned out to be in Ukraine.

this looks like it is somewhere in latin america. the church that can barely be glimpsed to the right seems like it was constructed in the baroque style, probably pretty early, like 1600s.
