Corbyn era labour did have some bad fellow travellers but they were pretty great at keeping actual anti-semitic conspiracy theorists like Galloway away from the limelight, don't think I've heard that mentioned.

I'd be so embarrassed to post these campaign leaflets, even disengaged people know Labour can do fuck all of these out of power. But also it's worded like a school election project by a 12 year old.

it's so shit local councillors it's untrue, but from someone who is trying pass themselves off as a political ingenue who is offering something different from the "westminster bubble" - just fucking diabolical.

calzino, Monday, 14 June 2021 20:59 (five years ago)

I knew it would be something like this from her previous appearances on regional news, but somehow it's even worse than I expected.

if you've got a spare grand put it on the tory candidate winning, look at it like betting on Hamilton for a F1 podium finish - but only this is about 99% more of a certainty.

Understand that Unite talks aiming to establish a single left candidate in the general secretary election have broken down, and all three will be running against Gerard Coyne.

The wonky situationist in me will always feel iffy about Big Union no matter how historically important they are

Full Kit Starmer (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 15 June 2021 19:58 (five years ago)

I've never been a member of one and a work colleague who joined Unite got fuck all useful help from them when the company was trying to lay him off without paying him his statuary dues etc.. They are historically important but from a personal viewpoint they mean fuck all to me, and I've never liked big Len and that Beckett seems like a total dick.

calzino, Tuesday, 15 June 2021 20:04 (five years ago)

I love some Jimmy Hoffa fan-fic though, especially the James Ellroy version of him!

calzino, Tuesday, 15 June 2021 20:07 (five years ago)

without knowing anything about Steve Turner it seems he has a Paul Mason endorsement and Akehurst has posted he's a better option than Beckett, so therefore he must be bad.

The Unite candidates getting back in the room to hash things out and somehow managing to add a fourth left-wing candidate to the ballot.

Incredibly, Keir Starmer absents the field and allows SNP Ian Blackford to ask about the Cummings messages. The PM does not respond

— Sam Coates Sky (@SamCoatesSky) June 16, 2021

Kieth is quite above embarrassing the Tory govt at PMQs with the juiciest bits of Dom's blog because that isn't very dignified behaviour - pure class m8 👏👏👏

calzino, Wednesday, 16 June 2021 11:38 (five years ago)

So is bringing up DCum's newsletter accusations good or bad praxis? Seem to remember last time around everyone saying it's palacial intrigue that shouldn't interest us.

Daniel_Rf, Wednesday, 16 June 2021 13:08 (five years ago)

I don't really care that much tbh, just any excuse to dunk on what a timorous soft shite Kieth is when opportunities to embarrass the govt are gift-wrapped for him by Dom.

calzino, Wednesday, 16 June 2021 13:18 (five years ago)

All of labour (including the good ones, Abbott, Corbyn, Sultana, etc.) voting for "covid secure borders" bill that puts all amber countries on the red list and vaccine passports? Irrelevant as the tories voted it down anyway, but curious if someone can explain the reasoning here:

Keir Starmer picks ‘Stonger Together’ slogan used by Hillary Clinton to rebrand

maybe Abbott, Corbyn, Sultana, etc were persuaded not to upset the applecart, because Kieth's 9th fucking rebrand was on the way!

calzino, Wednesday, 16 June 2021 22:33 (five years ago)

nobody actually noticed his last 3 rebrands so to show he means business this time he's borrowing a vacuous slogan from that oh so successful HRC campaign

CuK wasn't some hilarious singular comedy event in politics, it was actually the PLP blueprint for the Corbyn successor, only now they are imploring us to look into a copy of the Oxford Atlas of the World rather than our hands. Is Britain in the world?

Britain In The World, But Not Of The World

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Thursday, 17 June 2021 08:55 (five years ago)

Asked how it felt to be told she had to leave her post, she is philosophical. “You’ve got to take the rough with the smooth, haven’t you, in politics? Keir is ultimately the manager of the football team, he decides who goes where. I’m just glad I can make a contribution in a different way, hopefully.”

when a player who has been scapegoated for a recent 7-0 rout + demoted to the development squad and still sounds this confident, that's the sign of a real class manager!
