I don't think the Netherlands have roads that bad. Belgium, maybe, but those buildings don't look Belgian

trying to make sense of the bridge/crossing in the back of the first picture. can’t make out if it’s open or closed. could it be an overground metro line or a (sub)urban railway line?

Revising my hypothesis to France, having noticed the bike lane symbol with solid wheels like the ones used in Paris.

Eventually hit on the idea of googling for bike lane markers in different countries and bike-friendly European cities, quickly found that Strasbourg uses those distinctive markings with the solid wheels.

bit surprised to see them in strasbourg tbh. can't imagine they get much snow there.

Could easily be brum, or any other city with large victorian brick infrastructure. Surprisingly hard to find a road that follows the curve of an elevated railway like that though, and the old fence at the top and the overgrowth suggest it's not an actual in-use railway line.

I am not totally convinced the main wall taking up much of the picture is an elevated railway but I can't really justify that past saying the cast iron fencing seems odd for a railway (even disused) and I'd kinda expect to see arches in a railway bridge. I realise this is not much help.

(I mean it's quite likely it's a raised piece of railway, I'm just not sure it is)

I've spent a lot of time on Google Street view looking at UK cities trying to find old brick walls near railroad underpasses. Definitely found some spots with a similar vibe, but so far no joy.
