Whose lane is it, an e howe?

I see Joel Pereira, who Mourinho described as ‘the best Portuguese goalkeeper of the next generation.’ has been released on a free. He had an absolute mare at Hearts and I think it finished 7-0 on his full debut for Town.

calzino, Saturday, 5 June 2021 09:42 (three years ago) link

Emiliano Buendia to Villa for ~£35 million by the looks of it. Could be a good bit of business given how much Villa struggled for midfield creativity once Barkley's form fell off a cliff post-injury and Grealish got injured himself. And of course it gives Norwich funds to strengthen a little, so everybody's happy!

Skipp in for 35m so

Villa bidding for Ward-Prowse as well, assume they’re getting a fortune from City for Grealish...

The six Premier League clubs that signed up for the doomed European Super League have all been hit with fines.

Manchester United,Chelsea,Liverpool,Arsenal,Manchester City and Tottenham must all pay a combined sum of £22million for their part in the doomed venture.

This equates to just over £3.5million per club, although it is currently unclear whether all six clubs will pay an equal amount.

However, if any of the six clubs sign up for a similar venture in the future then they could each be hit with a £20million fine and face a 30-point deduction.

calzino, Wednesday, 9 June 2021 14:53 (two years ago) link

Deduct the points retroactively anyway you fucking cowards

hiroyoshi tins in (Sgt. Biscuits), Wednesday, 9 June 2021 14:57 (two years ago) link

Hilariously, Arsenal and Spurs would both still be safe if you did this to the season just ended

hiroyoshi tins in (Sgt. Biscuits), Wednesday, 9 June 2021 15:00 (two years ago) link

3.5m is chump change to these lads, it should have been a much higher fine than that

calzino, Wednesday, 9 June 2021 15:19 (two years ago) link

That's 1.5 promising young creative midfielders you never hear of again for Arsenal, should've made it 10 mil, or 'an Elneny' as it's known in the trade.

I gave it my all and my all wasn't enough (Matt #2), Wednesday, 9 June 2021 15:27 (two years ago) link

Splitting hairs, possibly, but it's not a fine, it's a settlement paid "as a gesture of good will". It's not 100% clear that the FA actually had much power to impose a fine but i guess the six clubs want it swept under the carpet at this stage. The points deduction / fine for joining another one in future seems to have been given to the FA after the fact by a rule change the clubs have agreed to.

Its a guarantee that any future moves will be a true breakaway and not just a "we'll have our own european contest"

Eschew things thirty two times before swallowing them (darraghmac), Wednesday, 9 June 2021 16:44 (two years ago) link

Fonseca heavily tipped by Fabrizio Romano as the likely next Spurs manager, meaning Spurs would be appointing the guy Roma replaced with Mourinho.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Wednesday, 9 June 2021 19:43 (two years ago) link

Appointing someone who got Roma kicked out of the Italian cup for losing track of the number of substitutions he had made and accidentally adding a sixth would be pretty on brand, tbh.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Wednesday, 9 June 2021 20:00 (two years ago) link

Official. Gennaro Gattuso part ways Fiorentina only 22 days after the appointment, because of the problems on transfers strategy with Gattuso’s agent Jorge Mendes. 🟣 #Fiorentina #Gattuso

Hmm.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Thursday, 17 June 2021 08:14 (two years ago) link

Around four or five players were set to arrive with the help of the Portuguese 'super agent'.

Yet the cost and quality of these arrivals is said to have upset the Viola hierarchy

Imagine that.

i really don't get why man utd are making bids for trippier when they have awb. unless they are going move awb into the centre to solve their problem there. maybe they think buying a rb is easier than buying a really good cb?

Sissoko to napoli breaks down if it was ever happening

Eschew things thirty two times before swallowing them (darraghmac), Thursday, 17 June 2021 14:02 (two years ago) link

we do need a back-up RB. AWB played the most minutes out of anyone at the club last season

I guess we thought we could get Trippier on the cheap but it doesn't make any sense at the prices that are being quoted

AWB would be an utter disaster at CB, so I doubt that's it. I'm sure we intend to spend the summer getting playing by Ramos, Varane, etc.

Someone who's just left their job after 20 odd days for not getting backed on transfers obviously going to fit right in at Spurs

groovypanda, Thursday, 17 June 2021 16:16 (two years ago) link

So as I understand it (but let's be honest it could change again because it's Spurs) Gennaro Gattuso was Fabio Paratici's preferred choice and he wanted him at Juventus before he left, but he wasn't available for Tottenham. (Contd)

we do need a back-up RB

I always get left backs and right backs mixed up. I can't remember which side Williams, Dalot or Telles play, but at least one of them must be RB?

Nasty, Brutish & Short, Thursday, 17 June 2021 18:40 (two years ago) link

Telles is the back-up LB

Williams is the current back-up RB but he's not even close to good enough

Dalot doesn't seem to be rated by the current management and will probably go back to Milan on loan

Hard to imagine anyone decent joining happily as eighth choice, or whatever we are up to now, so it’s either going to be Levy throwing even more money at a statement hire like Ten Hag, giving the job to someone who desperately wants it but shouldn’t be considered (Klinsmann) or Mason starting the season and I can guess which two of the three are most likely.
