Feta Van Cheese (Neanderthal), Monday, 7 June 2021 21:02 (five years ago)

yeah, they're singing styles are nothing alike, but I often catch myself thinking about that time Peter Cetera joined Squeeze or something like that. It's a haze of journeyman singer-songwriters from the 80s.

Royal Blue
Navy Blue

Are Animated Dads Getting Hotter? (Tom D.), Sunday, 20 June 2021 16:24 (four years ago)

^Haha that would be a UK-specific one I suppose. Although where royal ends and navy begins I could see being a contentious point.

Josefa, Sunday, 20 June 2021 17:41 (four years ago)

Yes, I was wondering what those were called outside the UK, if they have specific names at all.

Are Animated Dads Getting Hotter? (Tom D.), Sunday, 20 June 2021 17:43 (four years ago)

I mean, sky blue is pretty obvious ... and universal.

Are Animated Dads Getting Hotter? (Tom D.), Sunday, 20 June 2021 17:43 (four years ago)

They’re called the same things in the US but there’s not the natural link between the words ‘royal’ and ‘navy’

Josefa, Sunday, 20 June 2021 17:45 (four years ago)

Oh right, like 1776 never happened.

Are Animated Dads Getting Hotter? (Tom D.), Sunday, 20 June 2021 17:47 (four years ago)

the word "royal" in the US usually makes people think of RC cola

cancel culture club (Neanderthal), Sunday, 20 June 2021 17:47 (four years ago)

Does it? I would think of the Kansas City baseball team first and then maybe the old typewriter brand.

Josefa, Sunday, 20 June 2021 17:52 (four years ago)

Wrt to 1776 I think that in the American imagination the British will always be associated with the color red, because of the coats they wore at that time. It’s also why the New England Patriots changed their dominant uniform color from red to blue back in the 1990s. People thought it was incongruous that they would wear red jerseys given the historical connotations.

Josefa, Sunday, 20 June 2021 18:04 (four years ago)

Navy blue is darker than royal blue. I associate that color with pea coats.
