Oh, you put it there too. As you know, I have been paying some attention on another venue.

Working in the POLL Mine (James Redd and the Blecchs), Sunday, 16 May 2021 00:24 (five years ago)

I’m pretty sure Eric’s #1 won’t be a Scorsese.

edited for dog profanity (cryptosicko), Sunday, 16 May 2021 00:27 (five years ago)

no :)

Dan S, Sunday, 16 May 2021 00:29 (five years ago)

my choice for his #1 would be In the Mood for Love, and my second choice would be a Tarkovsky film of which there are many to choose from

Dan S, Sunday, 16 May 2021 00:41 (five years ago)

I didn't vote for it, but nice to see someone else remembers Crime Wave. I sat by John Paizs at Cinematheque Ontario once while he was talking to someone about his filmmaking plans (and promptly forgot all details except "I sat by John Paizs").

Halfway there but for you, Sunday, 16 May 2021 01:06 (five years ago)

The Master isn’t even top-tier PTA, let alone better than Georgy Girl

(it is excellent obv)

bobo honkin' slobo babe (sic), Sunday, 16 May 2021 02:07 (five years ago)

FINE, Georgy Girl made 25, in fact I just stuck to those arbritray numbers I threw out last night and filled in the other spots with some other stuff. Giving this too much thought would be THE PATH TO MADNESS, so I messaged My Brother and asked him the 3rd best film of all time, then put that at 3. One entry per director, yeahyeahyeah I've missed plenty but it's a list of 25 awesome films.

(The Master is at 14, FIGHT ME)

Almost done with my plus 100...or am I?

Working in the POLL Mine (James Redd and the Blecchs), Sunday, 16 May 2021 20:58 (five years ago)

dammit forgot Satoshi Kon. Also Bladerunner, but I ain't going back now I will live or die by this list

Jonathan Hellion Mumble, Sunday, 16 May 2021 21:09 (five years ago)

These list are not etched in stone or even scratched on film for eternity, they are merely time-wise cross sections. So it goes.

Jonathan Hellion Mumble, Sunday, 16 May 2021 21:53 (five years ago)

Got my 25 and my 100, just the ranking of the 25 left to go.

If you've made up a list, you may as well also submit it here:

Have they done this before? If so, I missed it. Not sure if this will count towards their big list.

clemenza, Wednesday, 19 May 2021 01:03 (five years ago)

I saw that. Could be a RnR HoF situation where the results are added as a single “ballot” among thousands.

i carry the torch for disco inauthenticity (Eric H.), Wednesday, 19 May 2021 01:29 (five years ago)

I'm nearly done with a ballot. Got the 25 set, just finalizing the 100.

I sent a ballot a few days ago - can I get confirmation that it was received? I sent it from a bit of strange email address (a4a**✧✧✧@te✧✧✧.n✧✧).

Thank you!

Hans Holbein (Chinchilla Volapük), Wednesday, 19 May 2021 16:18 (five years ago)

telus dot net is the end of that address.

Hans Holbein (Chinchilla Volapük), Wednesday, 19 May 2021 16:19 (five years ago)

Received! I'll update the list of ballots received in the next couple days and post here. Polling is most definitely not closed until I get a ballot from Alfred imo.

i carry the torch for disco inauthenticity (Eric H.), Wednesday, 19 May 2021 16:32 (five years ago)

VOTED! Everybody else vote, too -- it's the only way you can dilute my influence now.

I sent mine yesterday, before I could spend too much time second-guessing it.

OK, love mutton, I'll send you a ballot tomorrow as soon as I re-watch The Naked Gun 2 1/2 to confirm its place.

Will try to finalize my +100 tomorrow

Almost... have my +100. Would be nice to have a list of just all the nominated directors to work with.

Blue Yoda No. 9 (James Redd and the Blecchs), Tuesday, 25 May 2021 03:12 (five years ago)

don't know if it helps, but here's the 101 top directors poll from a few years ago:

All Right, Mr. DeMille, I'm Ready For My Close-Up ... It's The ILXOR's Top 101 Director Poll Results Thread

Would be nice to have a list of just all the nominated directors to work with.

at this point any vote for a "nominated" film should be stricken from the results

bobo honkin' slobo babe (sic), Tuesday, 25 May 2021 03:47 (five years ago)

Ha, I get it. Almost done anyway, but thanks.

Blue Yoda No. 9 (James Redd and the Blecchs), Tuesday, 25 May 2021 04:05 (five years ago)

can get my ballot in today

devvvine, Tuesday, 25 May 2021 08:29 (five years ago)

Same, will start drafting in a bit.

Only doing a top 10

xyzzzz__, Tuesday, 25 May 2021 09:20 (five years ago)

Just sent the full thing. *phew*

Blue Yoda No. 9 (James Redd and the Blecchs), Tuesday, 25 May 2021 12:54 (five years ago)

Just drafting now - I am putting one experimental short, one B-movie, one quasi-documentary. Making sure there is one from every continent (bar Oceania lol) means I need to go to 11

xyzzzz__, Tuesday, 25 May 2021 13:01 (five years ago)

Almost done.

So who you gonna call? The martini police (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 25 May 2021 13:01 (five years ago)

Genre-wise: no silents, Comedies or Romance or SF or action, just arthouse and politics and aesthetics day and night lol no

xyzzzz__, Tuesday, 25 May 2021 13:04 (five years ago)

but arthouse and politics also include romance and comedies

So who you gonna call? The martini police (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 25 May 2021 13:09 (five years ago)

I mean, how highly placed is The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear?

Not a lot of laughter in my choices, and all the love goes bad

xyzzzz__, Tuesday, 25 May 2021 13:13 (five years ago)

ok - so I have put in a Romantic SF film I've never watched in the cinema but have seen on TV about 20 times.

My Latin American choice was one of the weirdest random screenings of recent years that was just awesome.

So 12 it is! I'll sleep on it and email tomorrow.

xyzzzz__, Tuesday, 25 May 2021 13:23 (five years ago)

Took me all the strength to not put Stone's JFK in this lol.

xyzzzz__, Tuesday, 25 May 2021 13:23 (five years ago)

I put in a bunch of Latin American stuff, had to leave out some more, probably forgot about or never saw even more.

Blue Yoda No. 9 (James Redd and the Blecchs), Tuesday, 25 May 2021 13:25 (five years ago)

bobo honkin' slobo babe (sic), Tuesday, 25 May 2021 13:36 (five years ago)

xyzzzz__, Tuesday, 25 May 2021 14:12 (five years ago)
