I had a pastebin list of songs flagged as NSFW and it turned out it was due to the presence of "You're a Queer One" from the Carousel soundtrack.

I did email Eric to add Hausu/House, but not Downfall. tbh i'm in the middle of watching it today and i've got "i'm currently watching this and loving it" goggles on

I just finished Ian Kershaw's Hitler biography and it (unsurprisingly) has all the scenes from Downfall in the penultimate chapter.

do you know if the movie is supposed to be historically accurate? or does it take artistic liberties?

25 challenging because of course you are forced to leave something out but in addition may actually forget some favorite, +100 hard because want to get in some of the missing favorites from the 25 as well as cover Everything Else: other films by favorite directors, more obscure stuff, or even stuff by all the big directors you couldn’t single out any films for to make the top 25 etc.

I saw it recently and got more out it than before. Still don’t think it is top-tier but it’s got some great things in it and some amusing backstory, especially the one about the highly regarded French actor who who couldn’t speak English and how they worked around this

I tried not to look at that list at all if I could help it.

In any case, I am usually much more motivated to vote in a poll with this kind of turnout.

Ok i wasn't planning to do this (Morbius thought I didn't have the intellectual capacity to appreciate "The Master" because I said the Terrible Film Bridge Of Spies was a Terrible Film) but I might do it tomorrow just cus rewatching Svankmajer's Alice this deserves a number one vote from somebody, actually if I do this I'll put Stalker at 1, Alice at 2, fuck it I can definitely hit 25 with Lynch & Lynne Ramsey! Midnight Run top 10, Pain & Gain 23, Billy Liar 24, Georgy Girl 25. Kes 11. Fuck I'll prolly forget to do this. Manhunter 4ish. Dammit I'll do 25 tomorrow I promise but not the 100

Given your restriction to one film per director, so far there is still no Visconti, Tarkovsky, Fellini, Herzog, Scorcese, Wong, Truffaut, Chaplin, Ophuls, Wilder, Leone, Malick, or Satyajit Ray, among others. I have a couple of guesses but wouldn’t be surprised to be wildly off

I didn't vote for it, but nice to see someone else remembers Crime Wave. I sat by John Paizs at Cinematheque Ontario once while he was talking to someone about his filmmaking plans (and promptly forgot all details except "I sat by John Paizs").

FINE, Georgy Girl made 25, in fact I just stuck to those arbritray numbers I threw out last night and filled in the other spots with some other stuff. Giving this too much thought would be THE PATH TO MADNESS, so I messaged My Brother and asked him the 3rd best film of all time, then put that at 3. One entry per director, yeahyeahyeah I've missed plenty but it's a list of 25 awesome films.
