sure. I'll probably order some pizza from Tony's too.

So it's almost here -- should we just aim for noon Sunday? Any particular spot in the park? I can bring some beer and cider -- maybe some 21st Amendment and Golden State retrospectively, though I might see if I can get a Cellarmaker growler or something. Me, Lukas, Alba and family, anyone else?
― Ned Raggett, Friday, 14 May 2021 03:27 (three years ago) link
Don't bring much for me to drink, I'll have a drink or two max.If I got pizza from Tony's, would anyone eat some?
― lukas, Friday, 14 May 2021 04:06 (three years ago) link
Oh absolutely!
― Ned Raggett, Friday, 14 May 2021 12:18 (three years ago) link
We’d eat pizza (and contribute of course!). Just back on the internet after two days of-grid. Noon sounds good.
― Alba, Saturday, 15 May 2021 18:32 (three years ago) link
Hope the trip continues to go well! Do you have any particular beer or cider preference?
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 15 May 2021 19:14 (three years ago) link
IPA or lager is what I usually drink but not too fussy!
― Alba, Saturday, 15 May 2021 21:43 (three years ago) link
Wife (and son!) not drinking
― Alba, Saturday, 15 May 2021 21:44 (three years ago) link
Okay sounds good!
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 15 May 2021 21:44 (three years ago) link
So we're meeting at noon, which is when Tony's opens, and I don't think they take orders before they open, and Tony's is uh popular, so ... pack a granola bar, is what I am saying. We might be eating at 1.
― lukas, Saturday, 15 May 2021 22:14 (three years ago) link
Noted!
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 15 May 2021 23:47 (three years ago) link
We’re here, and a little awed by the Hyatt atrium all right. On the pizza front, I don’t eat meat but do eat seafood, if that helps. I’ve also bought some cans of IPA. We’ll feed our son before as he usually eats at 11.30 or so.

Space-age luxe vibes somewhat weakened by Rixton’s ‘Me and My Broken Heart’ being piped across the place.

Not sure how big the park is but I’ll look out on this thread if either of you want to pinpoint a place to meet. This is what we look like in a cheesy selfie from a redwoods forest cable car, except I’ll be wearing glasses. I think I’ll recognize Ned!

See everyone soonish. Non-meat pizza, check.
― lukas, Sunday, 16 May 2021 17:48 (three years ago) link
By the stand of trees in the middle of the park. Look for the pizza boxes.
― lukas, Sunday, 16 May 2021 18:57 (three years ago) link
Sounds good — about there!

Success! Today's park featured an ILX meetup, a tiff between a very large dog and a very small one, and a partnered acrobatic yoga class. Plus I got some life advice.
― lukas, Sunday, 16 May 2021 21:31 (three years ago) link
A damn good treat, we should do more of this. And the pizza was excellent.
― Ned Raggett, Sunday, 16 May 2021 21:33 (three years ago) link
Yes that was good. And the first time I’ve been to an ILX meetup in many years. Quality not quantity. Thanks for the excellent pizza, beer, company and travel advice.

sorry I missed it. It was my second busiest work day of the year. Yesterday was the busiest.

Noise Pop are planning to be back next year and they've just made what they're calling Super Early Bird tickets for the whole week available for $99 -- think you have until tomorrow to get 'em.

With Fleet Week I'm not sure what the other parts of the city are experiencing, but on the north waterfront it's low fly-overs by the Blue Angels and various other stunt planes. They are so loud and close. It's unnerving

SFGate describes this weekend as "carmaggedon" - Giants/Dodgers game, preseason Warriors game, fleet week etc.
― Andy the Grasshopper, Friday, 8 October 2021 23:04 (two years ago) link
Everybody I know is complaining about Fleet Week, which is something I normally do, but this year it kind of feels like a sign of getting back to normal which comforts me. Still... glad I am in the east bay.

This is the first year I can remember that the practice runs are even setting off car alarms.

Aside from the nuisance factor, I’d guess the carbon footprint of all that tricky jet flying is probably close to that of the city of Berkeley for the day (maybe not including the pollution of all the commuters passing through Berkeley).
― recovering internet addict/shitposter (viborg), Saturday, 9 October 2021 14:39 (two years ago) link
I only am reminded of Fleet Week when other people are complaining about it. It blends in with the Oakland Airport flight paths and the regular police and news helicopter sounds, because I live near all the freeways
― sarahell, Saturday, 9 October 2021 18:35 (two years ago) link
Fleet Week is the worst.

everyone in the bay area should see the Joan Mitchell show at SFMOMA
― Dan S, Tuesday, 14 December 2021 00:56 (two years ago) link
also the pastel exhibit 'Color Into Line' at the Palace of the Legion of Honor, which is fantastic and which is curated by a friend
― Dan S, Tuesday, 14 December 2021 01:21 (two years ago) link
The Joan Mitchell exhibit at SFMOMA is comprised of 80 or so works. There are many highlights and it is astonishing. My favorite is Sans Niege, a gigantic painting from 1969 which encompasses three canvasses and which takes up most of a long wall, and which is a summery reference to Monet's winter Vétheuil works. The gallery it is in also has a few other paintings that are among her best.

The impacts of a tsunami stemming from the underwater eruption of the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai volcano on Saturday morning are expected to go on for several hours around the Bay Area, with some of the first harbor flooding seen in Santa Cruz. https://t.co/NhcLaNaQL1— SFist (@SFist) January 15, 2022

Anyone want a couple of tickets to The Beths tonight at the Independent? I love them, but we finally roped our drummer into a rehearsal and I’d rather play music than watch music.
