So, there'll be a bunch of people ready to jump on any comment from Megan, and will jump anyway in 2 days if she does not make one.

I'd like to award him a special Duke of Edinburgh Award for croaking the day after the Thatch anniversary

Countdown to Heghan funeral attendance shitmongering in the tabs...

Madchen, Friday, 9 April 2021 11:54 (five years ago)

It was the stress caused by the Oprah interview that finished him off - unnamed Palace source

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Friday, 9 April 2021 11:57 (five years ago)

xp no need for a countdown, we are in an age of instant shitmongering.

Question: how many people will be allowed to attend Prince Philip's funeral?

The law allows a maximum of 30 people until 21st June.

Hundreds of thousands who lost loved ones this past year were banned from saying goodbye as they wanted.

Do the royals get special treatment?

Good enough for the IRA, good enough for the Royal Family, that's what they'll be saying on the Shankhill Road.

Duncan Disorderly (Tom D.), Friday, 9 April 2021 12:04 (five years ago)

Seems a weird thing for the only purpose in a person's life to be impregnating someone else - and, having completed the task, to live another 72 years.

Duncan Disorderly (Tom D.), Friday, 9 April 2021 12:13 (five years ago)

More to the point re: the funeral, will ex-Prince Andrew be in attendance?

"Do the Royals get special treatment?" seems a ludicrously naive thing for an actual cynical hack to say, perhaps she doesn't really mean it

If only I could set this up for Dr Morbius to say “Who is she?”

Alba, Saturday, 10 April 2021 17:10 (five years ago)

That's really sad, hadn't heard about her in years.

Robert Adam Gilmour, Saturday, 10 April 2021 17:38 (five years ago)

I didn't know who she was until just now, I have missed out on many celebrities this last two decades though.

Bastard Lakes (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Saturday, 10 April 2021 17:38 (five years ago)

Well done the Mirror for all the Lose Belly Fat links at the bottom of that article. Nice one.

Madchen, Saturday, 10 April 2021 17:38 (five years ago)

Her mum had been on TV about a month ago saying about how she'd been hospitalised, apparently Ryan had got into trub for mentioning it earlier.

Mark G, Saturday, 10 April 2021 17:41 (five years ago)

Oh I feel very sad about that. RIP Nikki.

Shirley Williams has died aged 90. In 2014, Vince Cable wrote in the New Statesman that "there is probably no one alive who has done more than her to define and shape British social democracy". https://t.co/DnzVMJMA6m pic.twitter.com/OfHtWfS4S1

RIP Quinton. Shirley doesn't deserve one alas.

Duncan Disorderly (Tom D.), Monday, 12 April 2021 15:09 (five years ago)

I conflated a real name with a character name re: Shirley Williams and was all, 'yeah okay maybe hers wasn't the best show ever but even David Lander got a more gracious sendoff than this, sheesh'. The 'age 90' bit should've maybe hipped me to my error.

in 2014, Vince Cable wrote
oh well if Vince Cable wrote it in 2014 then it must be true I guess

Camaraderie at Arms Length, Monday, 12 April 2021 20:28 (five years ago)

are you suggesting Vince was laying some cable?

calzino, Monday, 12 April 2021 20:33 (five years ago)

I am indebted to her for her brief stint as higher education minister. She questioned for the first time the financial sustainability of mass free university education (there were then 635,000 students; now there are 3 million). She put forward 13 possible reforms, including student loans and longer terms.

lol, read it and weep

calzino, Monday, 12 April 2021 20:44 (five years ago)

xp just seemed funny to see Vince quoted like he was some kind of respected elder statesman or political historian, and not even a new quote.

Camaraderie at Arms Length, Monday, 12 April 2021 20:48 (five years ago)

the quote is taken from a review of her 2014 biography in which he also reveals she voted against abortion, easier divorces as well as being pro-student fees. I suppose being a reactionary arsehole and helping to bolster Thatcherism for another decade is about as influential as she got.

calzino, Monday, 12 April 2021 20:57 (five years ago)

I suppose 2014 was the last time the lib dems could reasonably pretend to have any sort of relevance

Camaraderie at Arms Length, Monday, 12 April 2021 21:04 (five years ago)

and she voted against gay adoption, a true liberal to the core.

calzino, Monday, 12 April 2021 21:04 (five years ago)

Vince has got that kind of *talent* where you can't read his writing without hearing every sentence with all the tics and mannerisms of his bald headmaster speaking style.

I think when he built that new 25000 capacity stadium for them I think their average attendance was like 4-5k at max and there wasn't much of a new stadium boost!

calzino, Tuesday, 13 April 2021 15:58 (five years ago)

oh, I always enjoyed Noël's poems. RIP.
