Yangon?

Computers I can live with, I even dried them in the oven (ledge), Thursday, 1 April 2021 14:45 (five years ago)

Correct!

I didn't realise when i put the picture up but if you just google "Pullman" "a timeless experience" you get some guy's 2015 review of the Yangon hotel as the first result.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Thursday, 1 April 2021 14:51 (five years ago)

I thought Mandalay but not with any real reason, then I noticed not much streetview coverage but didn't find it (because it wasn't Mandalay)

cherry blossom, Thursday, 1 April 2021 14:54 (five years ago)

Well played ledge. Anyone mind if I post another now we've got a nice pace going?

or something, Thursday, 1 April 2021 14:55 (five years ago)

fuuuuuck i searched a bit after you saying pullman was interesting but didn't look for myanmar cause the pullmann hotel site i ended up on did not mention any hotels in that country.
well done ledge and also i'm in awe at you recreating the logo to search for it!

Jibe, Thursday, 1 April 2021 14:57 (five years ago)

go for it or something

Jibe, Thursday, 1 April 2021 14:58 (five years ago)

I missed the pullman hint! After getting the lotteria logo I worked out the no motorbikes sign was definitely Myanmar, searching "'a timeless experience' Myanmar" on Yandex my new favourite search engine got a page for a Yangon luxury condo with that tagline. No way I can find that specific streetview location though!

man that is tough, not much to go on. the car at the far end of the road seems to be driving on the left. i don't know why but it makes me think of new zealand, even though i've never set foot anywhere near there

Jibe, Thursday, 1 April 2021 16:45 (five years ago)

Looks sooooo much like a place I know, in Chico, CA, but since it seems that place isn't on streetview, my theory collapses.

it's like edging for your mind (the table is the table), Thursday, 1 April 2021 17:02 (five years ago)

is it a police car?

cherry blossom, Thursday, 1 April 2021 17:07 (five years ago)

the trees and the the curbs look like USA to me but the blue line on the street does not. Trying to make something of the grey box on the sidewalk in front of the streetlamp.

Guayaquil (eephus!), Thursday, 1 April 2021 17:10 (five years ago)

Ignore the blue line!

or something, Thursday, 1 April 2021 17:11 (five years ago)

I was thinking US too but the blue line has a more Andean feel, possibly northern Argentina

Also, looks like the word "Google" is faintly stenciled on the fence, maybe a Google facility?

o. nate, Thursday, 1 April 2021 18:40 (five years ago)

I've tried 2019 Google St, 2019 Google Ave, 2019 Google Rd, and 2019 Google Blvd but no dice

Salta?

SORRY

Guayaquil (eephus!), Thursday, 1 April 2021 19:36 (five years ago)

Most of Colorado Blvd in Pasadena has a blue line on each side of the street indicating the do-not-cross point for viewing the Rose Parade. It's even roughly the same distance from the curb as the current pic. There's also a pink line down the center of the street that the float drivers use to steer, since they usually can't see out the front windows.

nickn, Thursday, 1 April 2021 20:13 (five years ago)

Ok perhaps I made this one a bit too hard

joni mitchell jarre (anagram), Friday, 2 April 2021 11:52 (five years ago)

I think I see Alan Partridge there.

Duncan Disorderly (Tom D.), Friday, 2 April 2021 11:55 (five years ago)

Yellow, white and blue lines?

StanM, Friday, 2 April 2021 12:31 (five years ago)

treeship., Friday, 2 April 2021 13:40 (five years ago)

Is that a Travel Tavern next to it?

In on the killfile (Boring, Maryland), Friday, 2 April 2021 14:21 (five years ago)

I'm confused...are these last two images the same place?

cherry blossom, Friday, 2 April 2021 14:21 (five years ago)

Yep. I liked the first pic because of the misdirection but figured we'd have been here for months if I didn't post another

or something, Friday, 2 April 2021 14:27 (five years ago)

I thought the pavement might have been a giveaway in that first pic but maybe that sort of pavement is more common than I realised

or something, Friday, 2 April 2021 14:28 (five years ago)

I think this is one of the petrol stations thats next to one of the big supermarkets, maybe

Feeling possibly somewhere in Wales

cherry blossom, Friday, 2 April 2021 15:07 (five years ago)

It looks just like the Tesco petrol station in Milton, probably looks just like a hundred others too.

Bastard Lakes (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Friday, 2 April 2021 15:23 (five years ago)

The roofs of the houses look quite distinctive - like a nod to local vernacular architecture, but I can’t think of where.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Friday, 2 April 2021 15:52 (five years ago)

I’m going to say Hereford.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Friday, 2 April 2021 16:10 (five years ago)

The petrol station in Tesco's Hereford faces the store in that aspect - the kiosk backs on to the roundabout.

Also, for future reference, if there's a dual carriageway in the picture it's not Hereford.

Well *I* know who he is (aldo), Friday, 2 April 2021 16:17 (five years ago)

Not Hereford

ignore the blue line (or something), Friday, 2 April 2021 16:37 (five years ago)

Nottingham

John Cooper of Christian rock band Skillet (map), Friday, 2 April 2021 16:45 (five years ago)

Sadly no

ignore the blue line (or something), Friday, 2 April 2021 16:53 (five years ago)

the houses look like they might be big enough to be flats, which makes me think it's a biggish city.

π” π”žπ”’π”¨ (caek), Friday, 2 April 2021 18:03 (five years ago)

Birmingham?

calzino, Friday, 2 April 2021 18:05 (five years ago)

I think its a Tesco Extra. They seem to have slightly different designs from the other ones though I don't know what significance is

cherry blossom, Friday, 2 April 2021 18:13 (five years ago)

Not Birmingham

Glasgow?

Madchen, Friday, 2 April 2021 18:44 (five years ago)

I don't think this is the UK

cherry blossom, Friday, 2 April 2021 18:44 (five years ago)

yeah there's something fishy about those houses.

old guy seems to be walking to the right hand side though, which suggest left hand drive.

dublin?

π” π”žπ”’π”¨ (caek), Friday, 2 April 2021 18:51 (five years ago)

Thought the houses might be student accommodation

nashwan, Friday, 2 April 2021 18:59 (five years ago)

There are also Tescos in Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Duncan Disorderly (Tom D.), Friday, 2 April 2021 19:00 (five years ago)

Not Glasgow or
Dublin

ignore the blue line (or something), Friday, 2 April 2021 19:06 (five years ago)

Aren't those uk national lottery signs, at the end of the blue line?
