Ha, that's my parents place. We're here taking care of my dad. They converted a 1700s log cabin and added a barn-like addition. Cool mix of old and new.

it's gorgeous. an updated house with 1700s bones is something i dream about.

(also, HAI everyone! <3 it's crazy how a 7-day ILX break feels like an eternity to me, but it has been a very good time. i feel very good. i'm also taking this opportunity to go full-on BEARDO, i don't give a fuck! last time i got this far i looked in the mirror and resembled my dad, and it was so fucking weird that i immediately shaved. this time, the mirrors are foggy and hang above compost toilets at 90% capacity. it's not a place to dwell or think. or to shave. so i will pass across that mysterious hair-length border that i ran up against a year ago, this time only knowing it by touch. and by smell. for i am smelly. not today, i just took a shower. but starting tomorrow, and again for a long time, yes, very smelly. lol!

but yes, i will report in with a full on beard update on May 5! i am downloading some more music for the next ll-day cabin binge.

but also, i must say that Éliane Radigue's "kyema", from trilogie de la mort, has been especially excellent. there's this part about 30 or 40 minutes in where it just dissolves to static noise. hard to explain how good that sounds against the backdrop audio of mostly quiet, occasionally bird-crossed forest noise. but it gets there so gradually that it's no shock at all, in fact it is extremely, even unsettlingly pleasant. and then about 5 to 10 minutes later, it's been transformed back into another drone. i don't think it ever comes back, after that. but very good!

is that close?! i'm near Omro, now, but my main spot is near the Rubicon. to get there, some might say, you have to "cross the" county line and any number of private property lines, but it's in a beautiful spot! there is a lot of land, there is a guy there that wanders and forages and knows about mushrooms, and he tells me about the medicinal and druggy effects of local plants.

the one time I went to Rubicon I took I-43 to Cedarberg and went west for 25 miles or so. I think it's about an hour away from me. Omro's around Fond Du Lac but I've never been there. Anyway if you take the long way home and wind up near Sheboygan hit me up, I dunno about mushrooms but we got a nice brewery here. anyway, hope you find what you're looking for out there
