One think I can't remember how to do in Anki is how to reset the deck when loaded so it offers up the appropriate number of cards to review.

I made a deck of my own once, and it was inded a little tedious. I think one can make simple decks pretty easily though, using CSV files for example.
― The Ballad of Mel Cooley (James Redd and the Blecchs), Saturday, 6 March 2021 22:21 (five years ago)
copy, will try it out!
6/6 yesterday, was rather pleased with myself for figuring out the hockey mask.
― G.A.G.S. (Gophers Against Getting Stuffed) (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 6 March 2021 22:29 (five years ago)
My experience in A tends to be losing when I get 4 or fewer, tying when I get 5, and winning when I get 6. The talent pool is diluted enough to avoid relegation from A most of the time, tho I’m only just now back in after 3 seasons in the wilderness.
― Canon in Deez (silby), Saturday, 6 March 2021 22:33 (five years ago)
I'm happy to be in C for precisely that reason
― G.A.G.S. (Gophers Against Getting Stuffed) (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 6 March 2021 22:45 (five years ago)
Heh, no comment
― The Ballad of Mel Cooley (James Redd and the Blecchs), Saturday, 6 March 2021 22:55 (five years ago)
Okay, just downloaded that Ultimate Geography deck, really nice, thanks! Any other decks you recommend?
― The Ballad of Mel Cooley (James Redd and the Blecchs), Sunday, 7 March 2021 02:16 (five years ago)
This off-season I created my own deck that complements UG, featuring the largest cities and head of government (I got burned on the AMLO question) for every country, enough I could share. I should note a couple caveats: it hasn't paid off yet, and the volatility of politics means that it needs frequent updating (which fortunately isn't hard).

So Q6 was a gimme for me, just popped right into my head, seems like it was a popular culture reference for a long time, wonder if there is an age cutoff.
― The Ballad of Mel Cooley (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 10 March 2021 11:46 (five years ago)
Like I can hear his name being said in my head, by Bugs Bunny, by my favorite WBGO DJ. Not 100% those two ever actually referred to him but still.
― The Ballad of Mel Cooley (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 10 March 2021 12:10 (five years ago)
Lash Larue had at least one Dell comic, so that was my reference point.
― G.A.G.S. (Gophers Against Getting Stuffed) (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 10 March 2021 14:20 (five years ago)
I got it right, but it didn't come to me right away. My first thought was "Lasso" (which was the MCW), and then when I came back to the questions later, "Lash" came to mind and sounded better.
― jaymc, Wednesday, 10 March 2021 14:28 (five years ago)
i thought lasso then changed it to colt. "lash larue" did seem slightly familiar once i saw it but not enough that i felt bad for getting it wrong.
― na (NA), Wednesday, 10 March 2021 14:41 (five years ago)
Lash Larue sounded slightly familiar to me too - I think probably from crossword puzzles. But I had no shot at getting it right.
― justfanoe (Greg Fanoe), Wednesday, 10 March 2021 15:10 (five years ago)
I'm on a bit of a lucky tear this week! 5 wins in a row, 26 of 30 correct, jumped to first in my rundle. Must be a fluke.
― G.A.G.S. (Gophers Against Getting Stuffed) (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 10 March 2021 16:40 (five years ago)
OK it's hilarious that the "deadlift" question is the only one I've ever seen where the correct % is basically independent of rundle and in fact the very highest percentage correct among the non-rookie rundles was E!
― Guayaquil (eephus!), Friday, 12 March 2021 15:14 (five years ago)
Ha, yeah, I just saw that on the message board. As I posted there, I got it wrong, while my wife, who has no interest in trivia but has spent more time at the gym than I have, knew it right away when I asked her.
― jaymc, Friday, 12 March 2021 15:29 (five years ago)
I've noticed over several years (not specifically in LL) that anything on body, health and fitness are great equalizers.
― anatol_merklich, Friday, 12 March 2021 15:34 (five years ago)
that was a lucky 3pt gift for me, surprised at how few Llamas even lift broannoyed at myself for not being able to dig up the twinkie defense
― G.A.G.S. (Gophers Against Getting Stuffed) (forksclovetofu), Friday, 12 March 2021 16:42 (five years ago)
I think video game questions also tend to be more consistent across rundles.
― jaymc, Friday, 12 March 2021 17:00 (five years ago)

no you're not

I know I need to get better at keeping LL in perspective, but I'm kinda steamed that I lost 7(5) to 8(5) because I gave my opponent 3 for Gorilla Glue (which she, a European, got right), but missed the Bedlam question which I have 1 point to.

I hear you
― The Ballad of Mel Cooley (James Redd and the Blecchs), Saturday, 13 March 2021 20:27 (five years ago)
Oof, I did brutally in the Midseason -- just 2 right!
I guess relatedly, I've had one of the worst TCAs in my rundle (currently third worst), so it looks like my kvetching is misplaced whenever I'm above the relegation zone!
― Eleanor of Accutane (Leee), Monday, 15 March 2021 21:48 (five years ago)
thank you, sammy

i unintentionally created a movie mashup in answering the anime question earlier this week; my answer was "attack on titan AE" (which was still marked correct)
― na (NA), Friday, 19 March 2021 13:53 (five years ago)
I *never* do joke answers because I would rather make a wild guess and hope for the best, but there was no way I was going to get that one right, so I answered "Horny on Main."
― jaymc, Friday, 19 March 2021 14:11 (five years ago)
It's been an interesting season for me so far. I'm 6-5-8, which puts me in 9th place. That's the most ties I've ever had in a season.
― jaymc, Friday, 19 March 2021 14:15 (five years ago)
lol at attack on titan being the easiest question this year for me
― G.A.G.S. (Gophers Against Getting Stuffed) (forksclovetofu), Friday, 19 March 2021 15:13 (five years ago)
Trouble on Trition was not accepted, I hear.

Or Triton even.

Weekend finally here so I can finally recommend the Great Works of Art Anki deck, which helped me get both of this week's art questions right (though I'll add that this week has been the first time that studying that deck has paid off, too).
― Eleanor of Accutane (Leee), Saturday, 20 March 2021 14:58 (five years ago)
Thanks! I haven't been consistent with that Geography deck but I really like the way it is done.
― The Ballad of Mel Cooley (James Redd and the Blecchs), Saturday, 20 March 2021 15:28 (five years ago)
Are you using the recent update of that art deck from this year?
― The Ballad of Mel Cooley (James Redd and the Blecchs), Saturday, 20 March 2021 15:40 (five years ago)
Wow, that deck is so nice.
― The Ballad of Mel Cooley (James Redd and the Blecchs), Saturday, 20 March 2021 15:58 (five years ago)
The one I'm using was last updated in 2017, do you have the link to the newer one?
― Eleanor of Accutane (Leee), Saturday, 20 March 2021 16:28 (five years ago)
Ah! Found it: https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/184436527
― Eleanor of Accutane (Leee), Saturday, 20 March 2021 16:29 (five years ago)
Cool. I just did a search of the LL Message Board and Anki was mentioned exactly once, in 2014, so either not used or a well-kept secret.
― The Ballad of Mel Cooley (James Redd and the Blecchs), Saturday, 20 March 2021 17:54 (five years ago)
There's something wrong with the search, because I learned about it on the board, and not in the thread that shows up in the search results.
― Eleanor of Accutane (Leee), Saturday, 20 March 2021 18:04 (five years ago)
Yeah, the only reason I know about it is via the LL board. (I've never used it, personally.)
― jaymc, Saturday, 20 March 2021 18:07 (five years ago)
From that one post? My search must not be working properly.
― The Ballad of Mel Cooley (James Redd and the Blecchs), Saturday, 20 March 2021 18:10 (five years ago)
No, from assorted references over the past couple of years. I think the search isn't working properly. I did a search just for "deck," which returns 30 results -- but they're all from 2015 or earlier. It doesn't seem very plausible that no one has used that word in 6 years.
― jaymc, Saturday, 20 March 2021 18:14 (five years ago)
I've scratched my way to 11th, then noticed that I'm just 2 points away from promotion! Obviously a very packed field, and given my bad tiebreakers, I'm not going to worry too much about this; I'm just glad I've gotten a cushion between me and relegation.
― Eleanor of Accutane (Leee), Saturday, 20 March 2021 18:54 (five years ago)
OK I'm sharing this here instead of the LL board because I don't want to give my opponents an extra leg up on me (NA thankfully got promoted ahead of me): https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/445411558

You'd think the State Attorney would be in a higher rundle
“It violates everything that should be honest and straightforward about our elections,” Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle (D) said on Thursday, noting that investigators are still probing the case as well as two other suspicious candidates in other state races.
