Basically, I appreciate table, sleeve, silby, and gyac (among others) for being outspoken and arguing "on behalf" of the beliefs of posters like me.

xp A lot of those terms are explained in the FAQ, which is in the process of being updated, and which I think/hope is going to be easier to find when the updates are complete. Thanks for mentioning challops and OTM, which I think should go in the explainer as well.

plax (ico), Thursday, 25 February 2021 22:24 (five years ago)

on the money is common enough, but the abbrev "otm" is something I've only seen on ilx and among ilxors

sarahell, Thursday, 25 February 2021 22:40 (five years ago)

k3vin k., Thursday, 25 February 2021 22:43 (five years ago)

I use “otm” off of ilx with some regularity, not sure I’ve ever been asked what I mean, I guess people don’t want to seem uncool

Canon in Deez (silby), Thursday, 25 February 2021 22:51 (five years ago)

otm

sarahell, Thursday, 25 February 2021 22:59 (five years ago)

I was under the impression that the general consensus was “on the mark” as opposed to “on the money” (although I myself prefer the latter).

Is tbrr an ilx thing?

epistantophus, Thursday, 25 February 2021 23:47 (five years ago)

tmoney tmachine tgo tbrr

That's not really my scene (I'm 41) (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 25 February 2021 23:48 (five years ago)

epistantophus, Thursday, 25 February 2021 23:50 (five years ago)

stilt in the wings (sic), Friday, 26 February 2021 00:08 (five years ago)

otm is such a great shorthand that it pains me to not be able to use it in texts and other random correspondence

if you don't do it, how do you expect other ppl to pick it up

stilt in the wings (sic), Friday, 26 February 2021 01:42 (five years ago)

I use it everywhere. Even church.

Jesus otm

Red Nerussi (Neanderthal), Friday, 26 February 2021 02:12 (five years ago)

I...use OTM all the time. And also say 'challops.'

Oh well, everyone thinks I'm crazy anyway

"Out of the money" (OTM) is an expression used to describe an option contract that only contains extrinsic value. These options will have a delta of less than 50.0.

Manfred Mann meets Man Parrish (ithappens) wrote this on thread POPE TO RESIGN WTF? on board I Love Everything on Feb 11, 2013

"Pope otm." is the single greatest sentence ever written on ILX.

visiting, Friday, 26 February 2021 02:45 (five years ago)

in my mind, it's always "on the mark" and not "on the money"

the people have spoken, this is a thought crime

John Wesley Glasscock (Hadrian VIII), Friday, 26 February 2021 02:50 (five years ago)

Clearly it means 'on the mend', as in 'your posts sucked so far but they're getting better'.

pomenitul, Friday, 26 February 2021 02:51 (five years ago)

Anyway, I've tried to get like-minded irl friends (all of whom are heavily left-leaning – sorry, unperson) to check out ILX but they're just not into online discussions with perfect strangers, nor are they criminally addicted music obsessives, so 🤷.

xp It may take them a little while. I think my brother told me about ILX about a decade before I actually joined.

Lily Dale, Friday, 26 February 2021 03:01 (five years ago)

Otm means "on the look"

Red Nerussi (Neanderthal), Friday, 26 February 2021 03:41 (five years ago)

Ahem try #2

Red Nerussi (Neanderthal), Friday, 26 February 2021 03:41 (five years ago)

Otm means "on the mook"

Red Nerussi (Neanderthal), Friday, 26 February 2021 03:41 (five years ago)

I have always been slightly sad that "off the money" is abbreviated the same.

Also, "rodents of usual size" would also be abbreviated R.O.U.S.

display names are for n00bs (Ye Mad Puffin), Friday, 26 February 2021 03:59 (five years ago)

That’s why we say “notm”

Canon in Deez (silby), Friday, 26 February 2021 04:01 (five years ago)

OTM is "on the monkey", it's obscure drug slang known only to people now in their forties.

Halfway there but for you, Friday, 26 February 2021 04:15 (five years ago)

Red Nerussi (Neanderthal), Friday, 26 February 2021 05:15 (five years ago)

Other online haunts fail to grasp the concept of 'otm' because none of them ever had a nabisco

Ohhh! That's cool.

Do we have any/many other non-couple family members posting? Skott's bro used to post, right?

has a family member ever lobbied to get their other family member FPed?

Red Nerussi (Neanderthal), Friday, 26 February 2021 18:03 (five years ago)

can we have bbcode to increase font size? maybe this will help the recurring problem of ilxors starting/continuing beef by not fully reading others' posts?

sarahell, Friday, 26 February 2021 18:42 (five years ago)

too big, didn't read

Red Nerussi (Neanderthal), Friday, 26 February 2021 19:24 (five years ago)

the hide tags work great but could we possibly do TIMED hide tags that disappear after a certain amount of time? Like a week? Is that too much of a pony?
