last year at a different daycare pp got donuts for fathers day. guess what i got for mother's day from daycare? NOTHING
WTFISUPDAYCARES???? is he going to get a freakin trophy next year? damn!

sunny successor, Sunday, 15 June 2008 02:29 (seventeen years ago)

I'm sure he'll be fine, Ned. My dad's walking around on his fourth left hip joint -- the one he was born with and three replacements. He never slows down and keeps wearing 'em out!

xpost -- obviously they hate your guts! It's probably the funny accent.

Rock Hardy, Sunday, 15 June 2008 02:31 (seventeen years ago)

sunny successor, Sunday, 15 June 2008 02:33 (seventeen years ago)

brownie, Sunday, 15 June 2008 02:43 (seventeen years ago)

sunny successor, Sunday, 15 June 2008 02:47 (seventeen years ago)

No, there's no active thread anymore. Something happened, something terrible.

brownie, Sunday, 15 June 2008 02:48 (seventeen years ago)

clearly

sunny successor, Sunday, 15 June 2008 02:50 (seventeen years ago)

Also Happy Fathers Day to Ned's Dad and my dad and Rock's dad and all dads everywhere!

with love,

Gordon Ramsey

brownie, Sunday, 15 June 2008 02:55 (seventeen years ago)

Thanks all. The surgery was scheduled for 4 pm my time, and I'm a touch on edge in that I've heard nothing yet, but perhaps this is for the best. No matter.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 15 June 2008 03:00 (seventeen years ago)

Mom called, everything fine. Yay. :-)

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 15 June 2008 03:54 (seventeen years ago)

That's good news Ned, I'm glad it went well. Wishing him a quick and strong recuperation.

Also, happy Father's Day to all you ILX dads!

Jaq, Sunday, 15 June 2008 04:51 (seventeen years ago)

I just spotted this thread (as I spend my Father's Day on emergency projects at the office; It's horrible being here today instead of with my family, but I have little choice). Ned, I'm very glad to hear your father's surgery went well. And Happy Father's Day to all the other ILX'or dads.

We've had a Wii for a couple of months now, and my wife and daughter gave me the Tiger Woods 2010 game and a MotionPlus sensor last night, an early Fathers Day present. Shot a 66 my first time out. (1st hole, quadruple-bogey; 2nd hole, hole in one. Still figuring out putting speed.)

Grisly Addams (WmC), Sunday, 20 June 2010 16:18 (fifteen years ago)

Dear Father,

Using absolutely nonsensical words, I will describe you in a way only a son can:

Gorf snapuki ke de lor ordle der fordle. Urdesir no "neeneenee" for gorp. Yo blee bloo rensary fo reflorgis! "Sorg" be bor. "Norg" ni fror. Ropissnace hor "Eltor". Gleeglee de rorpilene so "freefree". Roow spinspar o "Balgoo!". Urdisnar snee gorp. Floo "dee". Floo "doo". Ropstance aborp bloopfinkle.

Rocend, Ah' nesh.

And that is truly who you are. (Through my eyes at least)

I bid you: ado, ada and adi.

so much jazz when i was a kid. he didn't have any jazz friends in connecticut to go to NYC with. he just wanted company. i always made sure he promised that we could go to record stores/comic book stores/book stores in the village if i went and saw chico freeman or george coleman or cecil mcbee with him. i loved the taste of coca cola in jazz clubs. always tasted swankier for some reason.

scott seward, Sunday, 17 June 2012 14:42 (thirteen years ago)

couldn't really properly explain to my teachers why i was so groggy sometimes at school. uh, dizzy was really wailing last night and we had to stay for the second set...

Today is my first Fathers Day! Baby Snrub will be posting to ILX in no time.

Mr. Snrub, Sunday, 18 June 2017 19:02 (eight years ago)

Congrats!

No purposes. Sounds. (Sund4r), Sunday, 18 June 2017 19:24 (eight years ago)

Baby Snrub will be posting to ILX in no time.

Fatherhood will give you a chance to teach baby snrub the importance of carefully curated challops to raising your ilx profile.

I see James Redd et al. has started a minor tradition of giving me a shout out. I feel honored to accept it and would like to pass on my best wishes for the happiness to ilx and ilx-adjacent fathers everywhere.

I can't remember if I told you when my father died in 2008. I probably did, if I wasn't on one of my years-long breaks from here.

Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Sunday, 19 June 2022 17:33 (three years ago)

Yes, also happy Father's Day in memory of fathers no longer with us. (I'm fortunate to still have mine, talking to him in just a few minutes.)

a man often referred to in the news media as the Duke of Saxony (tipsy mothra), Sunday, 19 June 2022 17:35 (three years ago)

Yeah, my wife's dad died in 2002, mine died in 2014. We may no longer have fathers, but I like being a father. This pretty much sums it up:
