Looks like rich bits of New York I've seen in films.

good faces on those construction vehicles
― nashwan, Sunday, 7 February 2021 13:12 (five years ago)
Philadelphia?
― ๐ ๐๐ข๐จ (caek), Sunday, 7 February 2021 18:40 (five years ago)
Not Philly.

just a shot in the dark: washington dc.
― Joses Chrust (map), Monday, 8 February 2021 15:45 (five years ago)
I have spent a lot of time in DC-Baltimore-Philly and these solid streetfronts don't look to me like those solid streetfronts (in particular the iron on the windows doesn't look right to me)
― Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 8 February 2021 16:29 (five years ago)
The tile-work(?) is not something you find in Philly, except for ten years in California, I've been living here or returning here for nearly forty years, never seen anything like those.
― The return of our beloved potatoes (the table is the table), Monday, 8 February 2021 16:57 (five years ago)
idk looks like france to me
― plax (ico), Monday, 8 February 2021 17:20 (five years ago)
i was going to say: reminds me of France
― The return of our beloved potatoes (the table is the table), Monday, 8 February 2021 17:27 (five years ago)
flat roofs, residential street is far too wide for a pre-automobile city. not europe IMO.
― ๐ ๐๐ข๐จ (caek), Monday, 8 February 2021 17:27 (five years ago)
hmm i'm zooming in and now i'm not so sure. it's not a residential street for one thing.
buildings suspiciously low rise for europe but ... maybe?
this is a good one.
― ๐ ๐๐ข๐จ (caek), Monday, 8 February 2021 17:28 (five years ago)
having spent the last three years taking my son to construction sites, i will say: the construction vehicles do not look north american.
― ๐ ๐๐ข๐จ (caek), Monday, 8 February 2021 17:30 (five years ago)
Maybe it's Canada! I really do think the white-collonade face of that long brick building looks New England, and so do the trees, but the construction stuff reads to me as French, that's where I'm getting Canada.
― Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 8 February 2021 18:12 (five years ago)
trees bare & no snow though
― Joses Chrust (map), Monday, 8 February 2021 18:28 (five years ago)
The tile work on the stairs at left seem very unAmerican.
― Andy the Grasshopper, Monday, 8 February 2021 18:37 (five years ago)
Bordeaux?
― Andy the Grasshopper, Monday, 8 February 2021 18:41 (five years ago)
hmm. amsterdam?
― ๐ ๐๐ข๐จ (caek), Monday, 8 February 2021 18:57 (five years ago)
i would have guessed maybe somewhere in provence but less glitzy than arles or aix
― plax (ico), Monday, 8 February 2021 19:22 (five years ago)
im just seeing it as a blvd 'in the style of hausman' with a town hall at the end. i mean it could just as easily be latvia idk
― plax (ico), Monday, 8 February 2021 19:23 (five years ago)
it does feel kinda Northern European, I think
― StanM, Monday, 8 February 2021 19:27 (five years ago)
Could it be Goteborg?
― The return of our beloved potatoes (the table is the table), Monday, 8 February 2021 19:37 (five years ago)
surely to fuck this is europe not north america.
― Dusty Benelux (jim in vancouver), Monday, 8 February 2021 19:38 (five years ago)
Tiles make me think Portugal and I've thought Lisbon a couple of times recently but it hasn't been but maybe this is? So, Lisbon?
― or something, Monday, 8 February 2021 19:47 (five years ago)
I think the key may lie in finding out which country/city is apt to space out those cubic orange/white channelizing barricades in such a manner.
― Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Monday, 8 February 2021 19:51 (five years ago)
The green truck seems to have a word on the front -- looks like MACNYE to me but I'm not getting any hits for that
― Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 8 February 2021 19:55 (five years ago)
that's what I was thinking. the Blue on white tile and then the orange-roofed building in the distance made me think "southern Sweden" for some reason.
― The return of our beloved potatoes (the table is the table), Monday, 8 February 2021 19:56 (five years ago)
Or somewhere in Denmark, maybe? Northern Europe seems like the best bet so far.
― pomenitul, Monday, 8 February 2021 19:58 (five years ago)
Bunch of very dark haired people in the photo.
― Waterloo Subset (Tom D.), Monday, 8 February 2021 20:04 (five years ago)
But the sand/dried mud on the roads seems more chalky Mediterranean, that's why I thought Bordeaux but what do I know
― Andy the Grasshopper, Monday, 8 February 2021 20:05 (five years ago)
It looks very reminiscent of Tartu, Estonia.
― Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Monday, 8 February 2021 20:06 (five years ago)
I thought the roller vehicle said something like MACHTENS but I may be forcing it to be dutch
― StanM, Monday, 8 February 2021 20:10 (five years ago)
or maybe it's Argentina
― Andy the Grasshopper, Monday, 8 February 2021 20:19 (five years ago)
The buildings are the wrong height for France. Need one more story for provincial villes. Also Iโve never seen tiles like that here.
― All cars are bad (Euler), Monday, 8 February 2021 21:37 (five years ago)
Nother vote here for europe, baltic maybe
― cpt otm (darraghmac), Monday, 8 February 2021 21:46 (five years ago)
Agree that it doesn't look like France, does look like Europe. But not necessarily Northern Europe? Tiles look Iberian to me, although it's pretty flat for Portugal so maybe Spain? Or a colonial Spanish city in South America? The barricades seem not like something you'd see in a wealthy country...
― Zelda Zonk, Monday, 8 February 2021 22:39 (five years ago)
can't think of a pic on this thread that has prompted a wider geographic range of good guesses
― ๐ ๐๐ข๐จ (caek), Monday, 8 February 2021 22:47 (five years ago)
Trees look a bit Latin city boulevard too
― Zelda Zonk, Monday, 8 February 2021 22:58 (five years ago)
Yeah, a little "warm!" or "colder!" would be of help right now.
― Andy the Grasshopper, Monday, 8 February 2021 23:03 (five years ago)
There's a slow-moving vehicle sign on that steam-roller, which I believe are unique to North America. It looks like Charleston SC or something, something old and Southern
― flamboyant goon tie included, Monday, 8 February 2021 23:32 (five years ago)
I'm going to guess Ulaanbaatar
― Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Tuesday, 9 February 2021 00:13 (five years ago)
something old and Southern
I mean New Orleans was the first thing I thought of when I saw those wrought iron minibalconies but I can't convince myself this is someplace that warm
― Guayaquil (eephus!), Tuesday, 9 February 2021 00:35 (five years ago)
Yeah, no magnolia trees
― Andy the Grasshopper, Tuesday, 9 February 2021 00:36 (five years ago)
Wait, is this a Left Hand Traffic country?
― Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Tuesday, 9 February 2021 00:44 (five years ago)
I was wondering too... but there are not traffic signs to judge by, and the road equipment could be traveling in either direction
― Andy the Grasshopper, Tuesday, 9 February 2021 00:55 (five years ago)
The car braking at the end of the street appears to be LHT.

I say more trees, I mean more foliage. cherry blossom's pic obvs winter
