Has everyone seen vaughn in brawl in cell block 99 because imo taken with this thats a hell of a one-two
I saw it. Someone — I forget who or where — said that the version directed by John Carpenter would have started at the 45-minute mark of Zahler's version, and that was dead on. Vaughn was pretty good in it, though.

In searching i found a couple of posts by yourself that were not fulsome in praise alright

I liked Colin Farrell in Minority Report! And he was fine in In Bruges. idk why I find him unwatchable. Sexy? nooooo

Brad calling this a masterpiece is giving me blue balls, in my heart.
― Rocky Thee Stallion (PBKR), Saturday, 6 February 2021 23:21 (five years ago)
Colin Farrell could act that
― cpt otm (darraghmac), Saturday, 6 February 2021 23:29 (five years ago)
This is good so far, bf likes it more than S1, personally I'm OK with Colin Farrell as long as his character stays drunk and the hot cop looks like Jonsi fucked Sam Rockwell

Do u refer to the surly norse god tim riggins esq
― cpt otm (darraghmac), Sunday, 7 February 2021 03:04 (five years ago)
Oh is he in other things? I would not mind watching them
― flamboyant goon tie included, Sunday, 7 February 2021 03:08 (five years ago)
Watch JOHN CARTER. It’s another thing people shit on and were wrong about.
― but also fuck you (unperson), Sunday, 7 February 2021 03:12 (five years ago)
His breakout role is as the supporting edifice for tim riggins abs in friday night lights the series we have threads about it, we liked it a lot

Battleship is dumb af and a lot of fun tbh
― cpt otm (darraghmac), Sunday, 7 February 2021 03:16 (five years ago)
john carter was very enjoyable. i wasn't aware of its world historical bomb status when i saw it so i feel confident that this is a Real Opinion and not a challop
― adam, Sunday, 7 February 2021 13:06 (five years ago)
I wasn’t a beloved before, but quarantine has really taken its toll.
― Naive Teen Idol, Sunday, 7 February 2021 14:16 (five years ago)
iirc his performance in Carter can be best described as “mostly shirtless”
― Larry Elleison (rogermexico.), Sunday, 7 February 2021 15:12 (five years ago)
John Carter seems to have evaporated his acting career
― akm, Sunday, 7 February 2021 17:05 (five years ago)
That's the atmosphere on mars for you
But TD 2 was a few years after, no?
I think hes worth casting in a cop story or w/e tbh
But look, matty saracen has been limited to playing jessica albas comedy relief so...?

first go round i didnt realize that Deadwood Dan Dority was the corpulent, flatulent drunk detective who gets got during the shootout
― Washington Generals D-League affiliate (will), Sunday, 7 February 2021 20:55 (five years ago)
We love dan dority
― cpt otm (darraghmac), Sunday, 7 February 2021 20:59 (five years ago)
Dority: as soon as that actor appeared on the screen I said "oh I love that guy" but I have no idea what I've seen him in, never watched Deadwood

Finished E3 last night and this is so far a "I do not recommend" season
It is interesting to see just how weird and ya Michael Mann-y it is

i’m really into marking v bad decisions about what to watch recently. so i’m going to watch this. i’m not into psychogeography at all but i really want something that does for LA what much of the first series did for louisiana mystical landscape. everything anyone has said tells me this is not that series and i shd probably just finish city of quartz or reread an old pynchon or something. but i’m making bad decisions about what to watch so.
― Lord of the RONGS (Fizzles), Monday, 8 February 2021 18:15 (five years ago)
Yeah look i am not *recommending* this, all of the criticisms of it are correct but they are not ~right~
― cpt otm (darraghmac), Monday, 8 February 2021 18:39 (five years ago)
fizzles have you seen los angeles plays itself?
― difficult listening hour, Monday, 8 February 2021 19:08 (five years ago)
darragh you’re for it if it’s crap.
― Lord of the RONGS (Fizzles), Monday, 8 February 2021 19:13 (five years ago)
i’m relying on you here.
dlh- no! would it be roughly in the space i outlined?
oh i wait i just looked it up - i have seen this yes. it was excellent. (but clearly not memorably so :| maybe i should watch it again)
― Lord of the RONGS (Fizzles), Monday, 8 February 2021 19:14 (five years ago)
it's idiosyncratic and even in places cranky but yeah i think so? last time i was on an LA kick (city of quartz and all) i could have watched it for 30 hours.
definitely watch this excellent season of television tho lol.
xp haha i did think odds were pretty good but just checking
― difficult listening hour, Monday, 8 February 2021 19:17 (five years ago)
los angeles plays itself is great, especially if you are a los angeles lover (such as myself) and don't mind crotchety old man pet-peeves being discussed at length
― Dusty Benelux (jim in vancouver), Monday, 8 February 2021 20:01 (five years ago)
i really want something that does for LA what much of the first series did for louisiana mystical landscape.
S2 does for LA what a double-double animal-style does to an In-N-Out bathroom.
― Rocky Thee Stallion (PBKR), Monday, 8 February 2021 21:06 (five years ago)
to anfor
I hated this with so much vigour the first time round I know there is little point giving it another shot
― calzino, Monday, 8 February 2021 21:08 (five years ago)
Look fizzles there are people that arent sure what to make of many of the artistic choices made in herzogs bad lieutenant, imo this isnt quite that beast but id personally judge it in the round as quite separate to a lot of the stuff one would usually say was important to a tv show, because certainly the script absolutely lumbers and certainly some of the actors are more interesting than strictly speaking capable but i was nonetheless compelled
― cpt otm (darraghmac), Monday, 8 February 2021 22:10 (five years ago)
i liked it much better the second time around, perhaps bc i didn't watch it right on the heels of TD1.
it's possible my opinion is not to be trusted tho, as i like Vince Vaughn in this and am kind of annoyed with Farrell.
― Washington Generals D-League affiliate (will), Monday, 8 February 2021 22:17 (five years ago)
i'm curious exactly what i'd be "wrong" about if i rewatched??
― FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Monday, 8 February 2021 22:30 (five years ago)
i really want something that does for LA what much of the first series did for louisiana mystical landscape
I'm one of the naysayers, but if you are interested in the look of S2, here's something I posted way upthread that's still up. A lot of stills.
