Stallone is excellent in Creed. It's a terrific little movie that surprised me because I fucking hate the Rocky mythos.

I'm not sure I would've hyped Stallone too hard even a month ago but I just blew through the Rockys for the first time and then I recalled my love for First Blood and Cobra and even Tango & Cash and, well, he might be our greatest living thespian is kind of where I am now

This is not a worst actor nomination, but I watched Blackboard Jungle tonight--second time, first in quite a while--and I realized I don't think much of Glenn Ford in any of his three most famous movies. Gilda and The Big Heat are really good, but it's because of Rita Hayworth and Lee Marvin and Gloria Grahame, not him. He gives the same one-note, clenched-jaw performance in all three films.
