well Fen Road is not at all "the road out of Cambridge" - it's a mile-long cul-de-sac behind Cambridge North Station, ending in a steep bank at the side of the A14. yeah the flat plains of much of the south is something I've never really took to much. Being able to watch birds flying from an above vantage and the way going down a hill sometimes takes you to spots where you are insulated from most noise pollution and the silence is quite a sensory treat, well apart from the odd tractor or the odd reversing alarm on a farmer's forklift.
