Trying to imagine Radcliffe in any Affleck role is killing me rn. O'Bannion!

Vladislav Bibidonurtmi (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:15 (five years ago)

the problem I'm having is we're kinda like, excluding people who had a movie in which they were effective once and , well even the shittiest actors can get a birdie on the fairway every once in a while

Except

The

Ones

In

Question

Cmon man thats the whole point

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:15 (five years ago)

Is Pryce, though? I just assumed (given his involvement in Brazil) that he must have a Monty Python pass that I didn't know about but he stage-acts through every film he's in and it's abominable to watch (except Glengarry Glen Ross, bc everybody was stage-acting; look, Spacey and Pryce are both swanning all over their film sets in equal measure.)

As for Malkovich, I don't give a fuck about him except that he was a key figure in some excellent Spalding Gray monologues and afaic, a feature in a Spalding Gray monologue is as good as a Lynch/Verhoeven gig insofar as safe words are concerned

Like i think guy pearce is terrible and getting worse every day, but see for instance the scene where he blasts up the flat in la confidential and he looks vaguely shocked afterwards

Guarantee you cannot imagine radcliffe nor bloom reaching that incredible emotional depth

And id say getting Pearce to that point was like a breech birth tbh

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:18 (five years ago)

Okay I loved Chris Pratt on Parks and Rec but...I think he might have been terrible in everything else. Including real life, apparently.

Vladislav Bibidonurtmi (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:19 (five years ago)

fgti i am not here to dictate over my excellent ilx colleagues in this endeavour i am convinced of yr case and pryce is hereby declared no better than malkovich/spacey gavel next

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:20 (five years ago)

Pratt has charm and goofiness in gotg bloom in that role would dry out the tapeheads

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:21 (five years ago)

Erm...how do we feel about Julia Roberts?

Vladislav Bibidonurtmi (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:21 (five years ago)

Well, regardless of your kind admission, I've always fucking hated Guy Pearce

flamboyant goon tie included, Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:22 (five years ago)

career-defining performance in Hook

Wrong Screamed Barney (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:22 (five years ago)

Srsly btw garfield is v good in red riding i was surprised too

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:22 (five years ago)

he actually was!

Wrong Screamed Barney (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:22 (five years ago)

Julia Roberts in Erin Brockovich did the same thing Nicole Kidman did with To Die For

She did a good job

flamboyant goon tie included, Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:22 (five years ago)

Julia roberts is brilliant in

America's sweethearts

Yeah look there it is

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:23 (five years ago)

don't think we should think of actors as real people

Dan S, Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:24 (five years ago)

deems how do we have the same taste in film

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:24 (five years ago)

Youll note i cannot stand over these people enjoying happy successful lives based on their exploits, im not saying that at all

Some of them are v pretty tho

I vaguely recall Pryce putting on a good show for that Bond film he was in

Western® with Bacon Flavor, Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:25 (five years ago)

I reiterate that Gabriel Byrne is trash despite his involvement in an excellent Coen movie and add Liam Neeson to the mix

I love Irish people I only read Irish books and drink Irish whiskey and beer but the idea of seeing Neeson opposite Byrne in Godot is the hell I wish upon my most hated enemies

flamboyant goon tie included, Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:25 (five years ago)

Brad because you have a magic eye my friend ❤️

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:25 (five years ago)

Roberts has genuine charm

...Eric of course

....jk I like Julia Roberts

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:27 (five years ago)

fgti we dont hold it against you as soon as radcliffe is humanely put to sleep and we figure out whether pentagrams, fumigation or micrwaves will banish bloom i pledge the 26 counties will be right behind you in settling with byrne

Liam tho ah no

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:28 (five years ago)

This has actually been a very positive and edifying experience for me. For every actor I throw to the wolves I remember like twenty other actors whose work I didn't even realize I appreciated as much as I do. And then I even go back and save like every third sacrificial lamb from the wolves after a bit of consideration. Maybe actors really are worth the millions we pay them!

Vladislav Bibidonurtmi (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:28 (five years ago)

Therell be other threads, other wolves

cf liam neeson in the grey actually (great movie btw)

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:29 (five years ago)

Liam's weird pivot from his slate of period dramas in the 90s to becoming an action star later in life is kinda fascinating to me

Wrong Screamed Barney (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:31 (five years ago)

I'm trying to think of a single non-ensemble thing I've seen Bloomps in besides Elizabethtown (which was unambitiously fine in the same way pretty much all Crowe films are unambitiously fine). I have basically no conception of him as a screen presence beyond his capacity for taking down elephant things.

Vladislav Bibidonurtmi (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:31 (five years ago)

That was

Sorry, are you sitting down

cgi

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:32 (five years ago)

xxpost Me too! I was just commenting on that the other day. Most actors make that transition sometime well before their fifties, but not our Liam.

Vladislav Bibidonurtmi (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:33 (five years ago)

Even after my holding firm the line here i gotta admit the idea of bloom, radcliffe, knightley in a lynch vehicle does titillate

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:34 (five years ago)

I refuse to believe mocap could ever convincingly take down a thing, elephantine or otherwise

Vladislav Bibidonurtmi (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:34 (five years ago)

the elephant thing was CGI or Bloomps was CGIed to have his limbs move in ways that were more aesthetically pleasing to viewing audiences because he usually looks like Gumby on screen?

Wrong Screamed Barney (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:34 (five years ago)

Liam is quite like costner tho, no range, great clothes horse, speaks clearly enough

The ricky Gervais sketch aside obv

Couldnt see Costner pulling that off

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:35 (five years ago)

Even after my holding firm the line here i gotta admit the idea of bloom, radcliffe, knightley in a lynch vehicle does titillate

Uh wow I'd watch that

flamboyant goon tie included, Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:36 (five years ago)

And I've passed on late-period Keanu Neeson but I'll catch up

flamboyant goon tie included, Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:37 (five years ago)

Can i confess that prior to viggo liam was my strider, just to link back to thread origin

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:38 (five years ago)

Radcliffe could be Lynch's next MacLachlan if he plays his cards right (and quickly, let's be honest)

Vladislav Bibidonurtmi (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:39 (five years ago)

Oh no mclachlan is sensational for lynch

Radcliffe has an absence of even banality, sheer vacuum, his spine is a demon's knuckle, his heart is skew-whiff and his mind is howling void- lynch could mine it but never pull warmth nor fun from the depths therein

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:42 (five years ago)

Can u imagine the director calling for a sexy radcliffe

The sky would crack

HP Lovecraft

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:44 (five years ago)

Radcliffe could be Lynch's next squalling calf fetus if he plays his card right

Vladislav Bibidonurtmi (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:46 (five years ago)

so you didn't see his Equus?

Wrong Screamed Barney (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:46 (five years ago)

friend of mine (Ginger Minj, actually!) once said they were worried Daniel'd just be 'Harry', and after the clothes came off....he was

Wrong Screamed Barney (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:47 (five years ago)

Radcliffe is a nevernude i dunno what wizardry pulled but theres no way

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:47 (five years ago)

I thought Little Harry featured prominently in Equus

Vladislav Bibidonurtmi (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:50 (five years ago)

We are some ways adrift now I'll own

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 03:55 (five years ago)

I've only seen Radcliffe in Swiss Army Man, and I'd like to hear who you think could have given a more convincing performance in the role

Cop Land probably should have had a moment this past summer but didn't happen

the writer/director had a good thread just as the riots were starting:

1/ Thinking about making COP LAND (25 yrs ago). My script, about a cult-like suburban town of commuting white cops was premised on the idea that many NYPD didn't live in the 5 boroughs anymore, a conceit the Weinsteins (my studio, close w/ NYPD brass) insisted was impossible. pic.twitter.com/Jh5P1KpZLZ

And I've passed on late-period Keanu Neeson but I'll catch up

I've only seen three of them but wholeheartedly recommend The Commuter as trash action with some really great visual storytelling bits & bobs

shivers me timber (sic), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 04:09 (five years ago)

I mean im not going to watch a daniel radcliffe movie am i?

Im just gonna say that nicholas hoult wouldve been better tho. Or cillian Murphy. Diane keaton. Anyone, bar bloom

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 February 2021 04:11 (five years ago)

I saw Cop Land in the theater. one odd movie but i enjoyed it. plus well as sic says it is pretty timely right now
