Not sure the last time I saw a team have so few touches in the opposition half.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Saturday, 30 January 2021 15:40 (five years ago)

should probably be down 4-0
tactical sub on 22 mins too

nxd, Saturday, 30 January 2021 15:40 (five years ago)

They are now winning.

Sir,

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Saturday, 30 January 2021 16:25 (five years ago)

Sick ball in from Ben Stokes there

imago, Saturday, 30 January 2021 16:34 (five years ago)

Beeb unwittingly picked themselves up a cracker here

or something, Saturday, 30 January 2021 16:36 (five years ago)

Was just saying that

imago, Saturday, 30 January 2021 16:41 (five years ago)

Gary Lineker genuinely starstruck to be in the same room as Gareth Barry

imago, Saturday, 30 January 2021 17:09 (five years ago)

How on earth was that not a penalty? He moved his arm towards the ball.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Saturday, 30 January 2021 20:11 (five years ago)

Let's just give the lad credit for a decent save

hiroyoshi tins in (Sgt. Biscuits), Saturday, 30 January 2021 20:19 (five years ago)

Southampton looking like they'll score a hatful so far

hiroyoshi tins in (Sgt. Biscuits), Saturday, 30 January 2021 20:19 (five years ago)

xps hit thigh first is the reason apparently
deserved a goal for the move b4 from ings tbh

nxd, Saturday, 30 January 2021 20:46 (five years ago)

An entire season's VAR luck in one game!

imago, Saturday, 30 January 2021 21:55 (five years ago)

Martinez also palpably heroic

imago, Saturday, 30 January 2021 21:55 (five years ago)

incredible ass armpit action

nxd, Saturday, 30 January 2021 21:56 (five years ago)

Very poor refereeing display. Ward-Prowse flicked a bouncing ball up in the air and headed it back to his own keeper, which still counts as a backpass

hiroyoshi tins in (Sgt. Biscuits), Saturday, 30 January 2021 21:59 (five years ago)

When i think of the decision in the 95th minute vs Newcastle to penalise dier for handball and i see them now just totally fucking randomly going "naaaah" to calls like that, man fuck this stench of a league

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Saturday, 30 January 2021 22:52 (five years ago)

Refs are a disgrace holy shit

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Saturday, 30 January 2021 22:59 (five years ago)

Reffing of fernandes since he joined this league is not even pretending to care about what you see.

Unreal.

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Saturday, 30 January 2021 23:24 (five years ago)

warning, v indulgent post incoming.

been pondering my relationship to football recently. i don't know if i am somehow satisfied complacent or sated cos lfc have won the cl and prem in the last 2 seasons, or perhaps i was never a real 'fan' to begin with, but for a while i've felt something a little off when i've been watching the game. finally think i've identified what it is that i've been missing. the rage is gone. i've never been a particularly angry person but there would at least be a few occasions per season where football would make me genuinely angry. that feeling is missing now.

as for the cause, could be that i'm older, but tbh i was plenty mature enough 20 years ago and i don't think anger is much to do with maturity anyway. think var has made me detach from football a bit and the lack of crowds has detached me still further. it all feels v bloodless to me now and i find myself gravitating more and more towards highlights rather than full games. anyway my football related stress has gone but with it a bit of my enjoyment. i used to wish the result and performance of people i have never met representing a team in a city i've never lived in didn't mean so much to me that it affected my day, and now that it almost feels like it doesn't and i really really miss it :(

still don't want lfc to test my ennui by losing to west ham today mind you.

oscar bravo, Sunday, 31 January 2021 15:48 (five years ago)

Definitely feel a bit of cognitive dissonance with the football these days, for all the reasons you mention. tho it's still more than capable of making me feel angry, even on an existential level

or something, Sunday, 31 January 2021 16:05 (five years ago)

the lockdown has made things a bit weird and rubbish tbh

Scampi reggae party (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 31 January 2021 16:11 (five years ago)

Including the football

or something, Sunday, 31 January 2021 16:14 (five years ago)

the game still gets my blood up enough to curse and swear with genuine bitterness and hatred every that fucking tory twat Bamford scores

calzino, Sunday, 31 January 2021 16:19 (five years ago)

Crowds, var, the stunning resolve of the refs and those responsible for their comportment to favour man united at every juncture, and finally the utter waste of the talent and resources while producing an entertainment product of absolute shite

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Sunday, 31 January 2021 16:29 (five years ago)

Also poch last year broke me to bits tbh

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Sunday, 31 January 2021 16:30 (five years ago)

There’s also so much of it. Matches almost every day, everything on television, it’s not sufficiently interesting to demand that much attention.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Sunday, 31 January 2021 16:35 (five years ago)

Burnley FC

calzino, Sunday, 31 January 2021 16:38 (five years ago)

i definitely enjoyed teh football more pre-pandemic, I didn't even get to see the Wolves bedshit yesterday as I was taking my folks to get vaccinated.

I try not to get angry at sports at all anymore cos it feels like there's already so much to be angry about, I don't wanna waste the rare moments where i'm in a good mood being mad that a bunch of people did something incorrectly with a ball

if Spaghetti-Os had whammy bars (Neanderthal), Sunday, 31 January 2021 16:43 (five years ago)

yeah games at random times, i'm working so less time and attention, no pubs to watch a match with other people

gotta try and run home for half past five to watch the next FA Cup game ffs

Scampi reggae party (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 31 January 2021 16:45 (five years ago)

yeah that's the other thing, I used to never watch a match of any sport without having at least 5 beers so without that accelerant, emotions run more muted

if Spaghetti-Os had whammy bars (Neanderthal), Sunday, 31 January 2021 16:49 (five years ago)

Not having anyone to meet and watch with also

Tho i had a Google meet with the lads the last night and it worked pretty well

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Sunday, 31 January 2021 16:53 (five years ago)

Long ball team

or something, Sunday, 31 January 2021 17:57 (five years ago)

oh there we go

Frauds and cowards

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Sunday, 31 January 2021 19:37 (five years ago)

lol, I absolutely knew when Spurs had the ball on the edge of the Brighton box a moment ago they were going to end up passing it back to Lloris.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Sunday, 31 January 2021 19:40 (five years ago)

Brighton really look like the only team likely to score at the moment. I’m not sure Son has had the ball more than once.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Sunday, 31 January 2021 19:51 (five years ago)

The front three have been staggeringly disinterested in showing

The defenders are lazy cunts

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Sunday, 31 January 2021 20:07 (five years ago)

If Vinicius can’t get on the pitch under these circumstances, it’s very hard to see what use he is meant to be to the club.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Sunday, 31 January 2021 20:16 (five years ago)

There he is.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Sunday, 31 January 2021 20:18 (five years ago)

Toby 4 rb imo

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Sunday, 31 January 2021 20:25 (five years ago)

Is there a worse passing team in Europe's top divisions

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Sunday, 31 January 2021 20:28 (five years ago)

All analysis looks at this shit like possession and where you have it and where you shoot from and its like it doesnt matter whether players are doing any of it with any individual ability or judgement or commitment at all

There isnt a manager nor a tactic in the world would take the players operating at the level of effort out there and get a result

Not that jose isnt stealing a living, he totally is.

But hes stealing a living managing a pack of cunts

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Sunday, 31 January 2021 20:31 (five years ago)

idk, if three or four of the players are operating at 25% capacity, it’s the players’ problem. If all of them are, the problem is likely not on the pitch.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Sunday, 31 January 2021 20:36 (five years ago)

Nothing removes the responsibility on individuals to that extent

Yeah the manager will be removed but an incoming manager should also know he has a job to do in clearing out the dressing room in such circs

I was looking fwd to mourinho doing that tbh

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Sunday, 31 January 2021 20:45 (five years ago)

I mean that's a low
