I spent a little under a decade alternating backpacking and working in different countries, and met a lot of people. This guy I met in 2007 seemed basically fine at the time, I have certainly met a lot worse.

I was with this guy for a week and did not spot any sign of his being a crazed loon, he was more the "travel broadens the mind" type. So not sure if he changed, or was just hiding his terribleness from view.
