xpost - I mean, fair, but, unfortunately, as recently as two weeks ago, the "Q stuff" was inextricably and dangerously tied to politics, so it's kinda hard to avoid. I think right now there's just a joy in watching some absolutely terrifying and dangerous people lose their shit and identity.

soaring skrrrtpeggios (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 20 January 2021 18:44 (five years ago)

yeah i don't think we can stop talking about trump and his supporters here, but the Q stuff really is a cesspool and i'm fine with not hearing about it again.

Considering that people are pissed in the Biden thread about yet another US politics thread, I'm pretty hesitant to start yet another one.

Would love to see the xls of what are acceptable topics for a politics thread or not, this thread content policing is pretty fucking inconsistent.

Not so much “cheering for empire” as cheering for just a touch of governmental normalcy, as frustrated as most of us are with aspects of government.

Everything's Blue In This Whorl (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 20 January 2021 18:53 (five years ago)

Yeah, I think Q is effectively over... we're just having a chuckle as they slink towards the exits.

So if I'm understanding this right, it is now time to pivot the politics thread away from the relentless horrors of the past 4 years and back to its normally programmed attacks on Democrats on liberals with only a bare acknowledgement of the half of the country that wants to throw us all in prison camps. I was hoping we could wait a half-day for that, but sure, I'm game.

Democrats and liberals, that should say

Today i want to wish biden good luck, this is a really fucked up time to become president. I hope bernie has his ear.

I'm a little baffled by all the cheering on of Empire that's happening here and elsewhere on the internet

After 4 years of daily torture by tweet the outrush of relief at just having to cope with the Empire we all know and love to hate is both sincere and pardonable. We will resume normal programming soon enough, the moment we hear about some quote from Biden or one of his cabinet nominees that provokes our stern disapproval. We'll be back on message in no time.

COVID was obviously the worst possible issue for Trump, it's resistant to bullshit, impossible to spin, requires coordination, consistency and competence. pretty much the exact opposite of what Trump is about.

but I feel like one of his biggest mistakes in all this was the Post Office stuff, I think that really got to people and got the election down to a wish for just some sort of base level functioning government. Plus it delayed packages during a big shopping time, it alienated older people who rely on the Post Office more. All that made Biden's return to normalcy pitch more appealing.

Do you guys remember that chain letter cryptocurrency that was called “q” and it was like “sign up with your email & invite 5 other ppl and we will give you 10,000q (estimated to be worth $69mil in two years)”?

Even the National Anthem at the inauguration ceremony was secret pork for Joe Manchin...

I am so proud of @ladygaga’s beautiful rendition of the #NationalAnthem at the #Inauguration ceremony. Afterwards we talked about her family’s Wheeling roots and she shared how proud she is of her #WV family. pic.twitter.com/Wbh4cEIaX9

How about Americans stop cross posting the exact same content to multiple threads idk

'Tis true, there is a finite number of empty threads available for use and we've nearly used them up. Restraint, my friendsh.

I think Q Anon is irrelevant now basically, just like Trump. The far right will rear its head again but in a different form. Meanwhile we can build a strong, prosperous, inclusive nation on a foundation of social trust, or at least try to do something like that.

Q is Joe Biden, another non-US Politics thread (Q Anon, Qanon, Q_anon, Joe Biden is Q)

stop what?

just a guess, but maybe stop acting like Biden isn't a massive improvement on a president who openly professed his love for white supremacists and neo-Nazis.

Respectfully Yours, (Aimless), Wednesday, 20 January 2021 19:21 (five years ago)

politics is shitty, this is a politics thread, wtf at the sanctimony

as long as "Q" (or whatever its next stupid iteration is called) has representatives in Congress (!) and is actually influencing policy it merits disussion in a politics thread

John Wesley Glasscock (Hadrian VIII), Wednesday, 20 January 2021 19:24 (five years ago)

I think joe biden is malleable honestly. My big things are wealth redistribution and the environment and I think Joe can be moved to do things on both fronts. He was a right wing democrat in the 80s and 90s but that is no longer where the country is and he knows it.

treeship., Wednesday, 20 January 2021 19:24 (five years ago)

I don't get why there can't be multiple U.S. politics threads for subtopics in U.S. politics, especially given how active the main thread is. There are multiple threads about rock music on ILM.

jaymc, Wednesday, 20 January 2021 19:25 (five years ago)

I'm not optimistic Biden has any more of an inner life than Trump does, but it's probably just "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun" in his head instead of howling pandemonium

Canon in Deez (silby), Wednesday, 20 January 2021 19:26 (five years ago)

And healthcare. Lot of things to push him on. The country is in dire enough shape that good things could happen. When obama took office there was no squad, no real pressure from the left

Biden has only been president two hours and he has already united the left and right in common hatred of Biden. Promise kept!
