the Pfizer mRNA vaccine owes its existence to knowledge gained through earlier stem cell research -- which is prob why yer family member confusedly links it to abortion. I'm not sure if the other vaccines have even a whiff of connection to abortion.

Respectfully Yours, (Aimless), Wednesday, 20 January 2021 04:09 (five years ago)

The Catholic Church issued a "pro vaccine don't mention the stem cells" statement just before vaccinating the Pope.

so the Pope is filled with dead babies, is basically what you're saying

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 20 January 2021 11:49 (five years ago)

I mean that was understood to be metaphorically and metaphysically the case anyway non

Qanondorf (darraghmac), Wednesday, 20 January 2021 11:52 (five years ago)

Dead babies can't make it on their own, from what I understand.

I know social distancing is challenging at "big events" but it didn't seem a very big thing in America today (to a Britisher).

djh, Wednesday, 20 January 2021 22:33 (five years ago)

supposedly they all had two tests a day for 5 days or something but yeah not the greatest 'message' to those viewing

Looking for Cape Penis house (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 20 January 2021 22:38 (five years ago)

It was making me shudder a bit even though it seemed very different from the Trump era. Everyone was wearing a face covering, I think. But, yeah, difficult to tell people to keep two metres away after that.

Like, I don't actually know that much about Bernie Sanders but I felt for him making his way to his chair.

djh, Wednesday, 20 January 2021 22:53 (five years ago)

i imagine everyone in that picture has been tested within the past two days.
but yeah the optics suck

the serious avant-garde universalist right now (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 20 January 2021 22:56 (five years ago)

It was gross. I was particularly mad at Garth and Gaga.

Hello Nice FBI Lady (DJP), Wednesday, 20 January 2021 23:04 (five years ago)

I hope they got vaccinated. I assume so.

meticulously crafted, socially responsible, morally upsta (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 20 January 2021 23:08 (five years ago)

Didn't watch it all but ... vaccination wouldn't necessarily protect them ... and the "quick tests" (lateral?) are reportedly unreliable.

(Sorry, not really getting into the spirit of things).

djh, Wednesday, 20 January 2021 23:13 (five years ago)

Well, given that this is almost exactly three weeks since we saw photos of the Senate folks getting the vaccine, I'm hopeful that a lot of the elected folks in attendance have even had their second round already - which would put them about as protected as one could be at this very moment in time. Obviously the family members are a different concern.

Ugh. Hoping this is my usual awful cold, but I need to go get tested.

Next Time Might Be Hammer Time (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 21 January 2021 14:34 (five years ago)

Good luck and hope that is all it is.

Smokahontas and John Spliff (PBKR), Thursday, 21 January 2021 14:38 (five years ago)

that's really one of the worst things about this shit - getting any kind of symptom and immediately having to worry that it's 'VID, getting tested, and then hoping the results show up quickly....all while temporarily modifying your behavior just in case.

good vibes and hoping it's just the seasonal sniffles!

Looking for Cape Penis house (Neanderthal), Thursday, 21 January 2021 14:49 (five years ago)

Yes i hope its only a cold.

My hosp therapist partner got vax dose 2 yesterday and she is feeling pretty ill. I knew that could be a result but i guess it’s almost the usual?

She has been so exposed so long i can’t believe she did not get covid tho, and she is v glad to be vaxxed.

pence's eye juice (Hunt3r), Thursday, 21 January 2021 14:55 (five years ago)

after I got vax dose 2 I had chills and a fairly decent fever for 24 hours. if that's what she has, that's pretty normal (for either Pfizer or Moderna, based on what's been reported)

Looking for Cape Penis house (Neanderthal), Thursday, 21 January 2021 14:56 (five years ago)

i've had two sinus infections this season which is totally normal considering i'm stuck in a dry heated house but both have been high alert quarantine situations because of this shit.

the serious avant-garde universalist right now (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 21 January 2021 17:33 (five years ago)

I caught one shortly after I was vaccinated and I had to get antibiotics for it. was relieved to find out it wasn't VID cos I"d just visited my friend who was going through chemo to help him around the house

Looking for Cape Penis house (Neanderthal), Thursday, 21 January 2021 17:36 (five years ago)

I remember that Neanderthal...and now it turns out you got the vaccine, and yr friend no longer lives near you. Whatta world.

The return of our beloved potatoes (the table is the table), Thursday, 21 January 2021 17:38 (five years ago)

my brother in law who is deep into serious Q stuff and also in the military (great combo) told us he got the vaccine because he was one of only two people on his miltary base to volunteer for it? i have so many questions that i dont actually want to bother asking, but part of me is imagining him getting some kind of weird pill or vitamin shot from some nuts friend of his. "this is the real vaccine! none of those other fools wanted it!"

Woke up with a sore throat and a stuffed nose. Will go for a test today, it’s almost certainly just a cold, there hasn’t been a Covid case outside of hotel quarantine for over two weeks. But it’s also been a good 18 months since I last caught a cold. Noticeable that this week masks are no longer required in most indoor situations and people are noticeably lazier about hand hygiene, myself included. I’m annoyed I’ve let things slip. Meticulous hand hygiene is a habit worth holding on to.

American Fear of Scampos (Ed), Thursday, 21 January 2021 19:17 (five years ago)

My family and I all passed around a minor rhinovirus back in late November and it was shocking. It had been so long since any of us were sick. Before covid we were always passing something around, whether because my kids were in school, or I caught something on public transportation, or because my wife works in health care. So after 8 months of being very happy with not catching a damn thing, it was scary knowing that some germ had made its way past our defenses. We got tested and were negative. But then we came down with covid a month later and the initial symptoms were very much the same.

peace, man, Thursday, 21 January 2021 19:45 (five years ago)

my dad keeps coughing all the time and it's wigging my mother out but he has been doing that ever since his first hospital stint last year as part of his difficulties with swallowing, he constantly swallows too much and 'coughs' afterward. aggravating that we constantly have to worry whether "this is your usual cough, or whether this is a different similar sounding cough".

his blood pressure is better than all of us though! I can barely get my Systolic under 130 with meds some days, he's constantly 100-110/70.

Ever since I taught at a uni where there was a mumps outbreak while I was going through chemo, I've been just absolutely bananas about hand-washing and sanitizer.

As someone from the UK, it feels a bit strange to see Fauci look calmed and think that that is a lovely thing. I hope this translates into lives saved.

djh, Thursday, 21 January 2021 23:32 (five years ago)

Thanks, everybody. Managed to get my PCR test done today, glad that’s out of the way. I have a mild fever of 100.4F/38C. Some people say that adults are not supposed to have such fevers but I feel like I always get one with my pretty much annual bad sinus infection.

Next Time Might Be Hammer Time (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 21 January 2021 23:38 (five years ago)

good luck james redd.

somebody in my co-working space tested positive but i wasn't near them so i didn't need to get tested. i did anyway. negative. feelsgoodman.

It's the relief borne of being listened to at last.

Looking for Cape Penis house (Neanderthal), Thursday, 21 January 2021 23:49 (five years ago)

Thanks, Neanderthal.

Funny thing that, how not being listened to is stressful.

Fauci did seem to positively glow in the clip I saw of him tonight. Must be a marked relief to know ones going to be respected for expertise and like actually listened to.
Biden not going to be improvising dream remedies or destroying attempts to coordinate combating the pandemic.
