I don't think the cult of Trump will go away completely. He will continue to say that the election was stolen and they will beleive that Biden is an illegitimate president controlled by China. But when we actually don't all become godless communists and trumps only secret power turns out to be fleecing his own followers, they'll end up as more of a fandom than a religion.

will be interesting to see where things go in a few months, with Trump out of power and still banned from social media. he's lazy and has burned every bridge available & I wonder if GOP Senators are gonna be thinking about that when they vote to convict. certainly there will always be a sizeable pocket of fascists but Trumpism seems like such a poor election strategy going forward - even with every possible thumb on the scale they still got trounced by Joe fucking Biden of all people, they managed to lose a Senate seat in Alabama, they lost TWO in Georgia, they got creamed in the midterms and they underperformed in every special election since Trump was elected. and the only reason Trump was elected in the first place was because of Electoral College magic + the most perfectly timed October Surprise in history. I see people on the right asking repeatedly "how the hell did 81 million people vote for Joe Biden?", well...now you know

Trump has zero idea what kind of expertise and organization it would take to create a new political party larger and more potent than the current Libertarian Party, which can't seem to elect anyone. Or, if he does understand how much work it would be, then this is just Yet Another Attention Attraction Ploy that has no substance behind it.
