Stuck in a training session at the moment, are they still voting on the rules? Or is this the actual impeachment vote?

soaring skrrrtpeggios (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 13 January 2021 16:16 (five years ago)

GOP ‘22 platform is going be basically IMPEACH SLEEPY JOE and LOCK UP KAMALA. (becz “lock her up” is so exciting to the base)

Even if MAGA freaks wind up actually killing GOP congresspeople, the GOP will learn nothing from this.

There's a difference between not leaning and not giving a fuck.

Rep. Bob Gibbs walks right around the metal detector and enters the House floor.

We’re back to this.

They should try this at the airport too.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Wednesday, 13 January 2021 16:27 (five years ago)

So 4 of the remaining 8 outstanding GOP votes were allegedly "yes" votes, right? Or was it 5?

soaring skrrrtpeggios (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 13 January 2021 16:28 (five years ago)

Oh wait, still not clear if this is the rules vote.

soaring skrrrtpeggios (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 13 January 2021 16:28 (five years ago)

Apparently still a procedural vote, not for impeachment yet.

soaring skrrrtpeggios (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 13 January 2021 16:29 (five years ago)

I think the impeachment vote happens around 3:00 this afternoon.

what is the point of having a metal detector if guards/security just let them in anyway

Looking for Cape Penis house (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 13 January 2021 16:33 (five years ago)

Ok, lots of confused people on Twitter this morning.

xpost It's specially rigged to sterilize anyone who tries to circumvent it?

Republicans are basically the worst and deserve to be drowned in a Noah's Ark-styled flood

Looking for Cape Penis house (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 13 January 2021 16:37 (five years ago)

I do not care about the metal detectors. They are completely pointless.

idk if i had to work with these psychos i might feel slightly better knowing they werent carrying

lag∞n, Wednesday, 13 January 2021 16:48 (five years ago)

considering some of them actually fed info to insurrectionists

Looking for Cape Penis house (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 13 January 2021 16:48 (five years ago)

I wish everyone from AOC on down would start naming names. If someone in the GOP made them feel unsafe, or if they suspected they were in on it, or if they're crying in confession that they won't vote to impeach because they are afraid of their constituents ... name the fuckers! Lying and hiding is what allows these people to stay in office.

we don't pay admission/and the bouncers don't check us/and we walk around/the metal detectors

One thing that I can't believe is how different the last week has been without President Manbaby on Twitter and being able to projectile vomit his thoughts directly into all of our brains on a whim. It makes me think of an alternative reality where he is banned by Twitter in 2017 and how different the last three years might have been (probably not that, but nice to think).

the impression I got is that they can't really do this in the midst of an FBI investigation

lol was thinking of this too, and also of the fact that Remy Ma subsequently shot someone outside a nightclub.

Perhaps, but ... they're in the middle of an impeachment vote! So someone potentially being investigated by the FBI for having something to do with the coup could be voting right now not to punish the president for instigating the coup they were possibly a part of?

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 13 January 2021 17:19 (five years ago)

The good times...

Since Trump’s almost out of office, I figured this would be a fun time to remind everyone of the weirdest & dumbest sh*t our failed dictator did in the last four years that we totally forgot about.

Starting with a classic:

Listening to coverage of the impeachment vote and it's just ... I'm not in any way saying it's a good thing that all of this shit happened, but it does still just blow my mind that this idiot managed to get himself impeached all over again with just a few weeks left in office. It would obviously have been better for the country if he'd just conceded in November and started setting himself up as a post-presidential kingmaker, but in some ways this whole thing is giving us a level of accountability and lasting toxicity for Trumpism that we wouldn't have had otherwise.

a man often referred to in the news media as the Duke of Saxony (tipsy mothra), Wednesday, 13 January 2021 17:25 (five years ago)

yeah

lag∞n, Wednesday, 13 January 2021 17:28 (five years ago)

and the Republicans left with two impeachments that they didn’t follow up on. none of them should ever again get to claim they stand for law and order. when people are killed, when other countries try to rig our elections - they sit on their hands because it suits them.

Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner intervened when other officials tried restoring the President's social media presence on sites that are often havens for extremists, such as Gab...

Not sure what Gab is... a ILX for fascists?

its another twitter clone, for fascists

Shouldn't admit it, but for some reason I think I can do a pretty good imitation of the Jim Jordan type. Doesn't go over well though.

Idk could’ve been the one-two punch of repeatedly posting on Andrew Torba’s (ceo) threads that his mother (who is also on Gab and whew, a piece of work) and I are deeply, madly in love and that I am going to be his new stepdad

or constantly telling Ben Garrison that if he didn’t wash his penis I was going to call the cops

Republican Rep. Jim Jordan is railing against "cancel culture," saying that Democrats want to "cancel" Trump and that only one side is being allowed to talk and participate in debate. (He is, clearly, currently talking and participating in debate.)

Looks like I'm gonna be the filling in a missile sandwich! (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 13 January 2021 17:48 (five years ago)

it blows a major hole in the GOP's entire defense of him up to now, that the more Trumpy aspects of his administration (like the constant lying, whining, propaganda and dangerous rhetoric) were actually harmless and that his followers are just God-fearing freedom-loving Patriots who take him "seriously, not literally". the thing that irritated me to no end was all the talk about "Trump Derangement Syndrome" and how the people who hated him really just didn't like his brash and manly personality. and if not for this they'd probably use that argument for the next few decades.
