It does work.

FBI/AG guy talking now about all the cases we know about from social media, vs. all sorts of serious stuff they are currently pursuing that fewer know about, including reportedly serious charges of sedition and conspiracy and weapons.

haha, it's ok JR&theB! not a big deal!

and has joe biden considered THIS yet?!!?

President Donald Trump speaking now: "The 25th Amendment is of zero risk to me but will come back to haunt Joe Biden and the Biden administration. As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for."

AG/FBI guy just indicated that in some instances tear gas was used *on* the capital police. They seem to be taking it seriously, or at least will be for the week or so until they're replaced by hopefully better people.

“We’re going to project. We’re going to project so much. We’re going to project at trade, we’re going to project at the border. We’re going to project so much, you’re going to be so sick and tired of projecting, you’re going to come to me and go ‘Please, please, we can’t project anymore.’ You’ve heard this one. You’ll say ‘Please, Mr. President, we beg you sir, we don’t want to project anymore. It’s too much. It’s not fair to everybody else.' And I’m going to say ‘I’m sorry, but we’re going to keep projecting, projecting, projecting, We’re going to make America great again."

The "fewer know about" aspect is interesting. Post-9/11, struck by how the Space Needle looks like an inviting target, and how nothing's happened there. Assume, like the Port Angeles ferry arrest of potential bOmbers, there are unmentioned thwarted attempts. Or it's just a sign of unwarranted fear in a fear-happy culture.

I wonder to what degree the FBI de-emphasizing right-wing terrorism and militias as a priority during the Trump years plays into all of this. If they'd been paying more attention they'd maybe already know who all these people are.

Of course they were too busy chasing antifa.

What's Trump's point about the 25th? It's been on the books for 50 years. It could have been used at any time (and in fact was also floated during Reagan's second term). Given that it's invoked by the president's own appointees, rather than the opposition party, why would raising the possibility of using it now make it any likelier that it would be used against Biden?

jaymc, Tuesday, 12 January 2021 20:37 (five years ago)

I mean it's easy to forget but many were expecting a lot more high profile attacks after 9/11. obviously other things DID happen (attempted shoe bombing, anthrax, Beltway sniper), some which may not have actually been related, but week after week, we'd hear from intelligence that there was a 100% chance of an attack in coming weeks and that the body counts could be high, and they never materialized.

that was largely in part to many of these plots being proactively snuffed rather than "not materializing" but I'm just hoping things can get even somewhat under control. I don't have a great feeling - think we'll see small domestic terror incidents for a while that are going to keep intelligence and federal bodies busy. I hope I'm wrong.

Have thought about this too.

literally the only thing Trump knows about the 25th is that it's invoked when a president is considered incompetent. I don't think he has any clue who kicks it off or votes on it.

xpost - Projection. And starting a new rallying cry so we get to listen to his sycophants screech about Biden needing the 25th from the second he's sworn in.

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 12 January 2021 20:41 (five years ago)

I hadn't considered the possibility that Pence would use the 25th against Biden. Guess Congress should back off.

Which is why Congress is voting to impeach Biden this week!

Just saw someone suggest that Trump is referencing a Q theory that Democrats are going to use the 25th against Biden once he's in office so as to install Kamala as president.

jaymc, Tuesday, 12 January 2021 20:44 (five years ago)

honestly wouldn't give a shit if they did

Ole Blueyes Solskjaer (darraghmac), Tuesday, 12 January 2021 20:45 (five years ago)

trump doesn't usually reference q stuff, though, right? he seems genuinely ignorant about it other than he is somehow involved and "they" like him

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 12 January 2021 20:45 (five years ago)

he hears things

frogbs, Tuesday, 12 January 2021 20:47 (five years ago)

The funny thing is that I'm sure Kamala wouldn't actually govern all that differently. But she's a Black woman, so she is obviously a Radical Leftist who's looking to usher in communism.

jaymc, Tuesday, 12 January 2021 20:47 (five years ago)

btw during my last convo with my mom a couple months back, she brought up the kamala harris thing too. her theory was that biden was obviously old and senile (which is why i was often rude to ilxors who suggested he was senile, back then) to hold office, and the plan was for him to step down sometime in 2021

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 12 January 2021 20:47 (five years ago)

But she's a Black woman, so she is obviously a Radical Leftist who's looking to usher in communism.

yeah I'm kind of surprised the whole "she's the most radical Senator on the left" thing never got more pushback

frogbs, Tuesday, 12 January 2021 20:48 (five years ago)

xp jaymc yeah exactly, i argued with her for a while about just how dumb the whole thing was, but then i asked her what the problem would be with harris and why it would be a huge secret plan to get her to be president. she had no answer at all

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 12 January 2021 20:48 (five years ago)

I don’t think Biden will serve a full term. My prediction is that he hands over the reins in early 2023.

Everything's Blue In This Whorl (Raymond Cummings), Tuesday, 12 January 2021 20:49 (five years ago)

suddenly i have the urge to look at predictit

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 12 January 2021 20:50 (five years ago)

1) Who the fuck cares what Trump says about anything.

2) He's so stupid, the last he was talking about the 25th was a conspiracy theory that the Deep State who whomever the fuck would declare Biden incapable under the 25th the make Harris president. And you thought *Biden* was a radically leftist, man ...

Anyway, who the fuck cares about Trump, he can eat shit.

This is kinda where I am. Even if he effectively becomes unable to govern, this won't be made public and he'll serve out his term bar any serious illness or incapacitation.
