there is literally no possible roll of the dice that ends in a massacre of white people

Easy to be blasé that far from the brits

Daz White (darraghmac), Monday, 11 January 2021 02:55 (five years ago)

i'm basically anti-murder, here's why

the serious avant-garde universalist right now (forksclovetofu), Monday, 11 January 2021 02:56 (five years ago)

I actually can’t imagine the effect of the national guard killing hundreds of Americans on US soil in a matter of minutes, I think they’d basically be fighting a full scale counterinsurgency against the distributed force of the militia movement hours later, with anyone who doesn’t desert.

Canon in Deez (silby), Monday, 11 January 2021 02:56 (five years ago)

Ok step back from massacre- if you think it would be labelled that in the circs? -and turn it into counterprotest tactics as seen all last year for instance

Xp to silby yes, go on

Daz White (darraghmac), Monday, 11 January 2021 02:58 (five years ago)

War-crimey counterprotest tactics such as deploying tear gas and blast balls don’t really stop protests nor do they protect anything from anyone, but they might protect the seat of government from armed insurgents who are actually little peepants freaks.

Canon in Deez (silby), Monday, 11 January 2021 03:01 (five years ago)

Xpost militia would label it a massacre if one person died of heat stroke.

They're already out there complaining that BLM got more favorable treatment (bout lost my shit the first time i saw that)

Looking for Cape Penis house (Neanderthal), Monday, 11 January 2021 03:01 (five years ago)

Only five people died in the so-called 1770 Boston Massacre and see where that led

Boring United Methodist Church (Boring, Maryland), Monday, 11 January 2021 03:06 (five years ago)

Yeah the brits like i said but listen the dynamics here are surely a little different

Daz White (darraghmac), Monday, 11 January 2021 03:08 (five years ago)

For one thing, when xpost Jan. 17 is going to incl. demonstrations at all state capitols, supposedly, and quite possibly a replay of/advancement on what's already happened in Michigan and Georgia (where Sec of State has had to be escorted by security forces), as well as another promised DC assault---it's just too decentralized for a few decisive confrontations, or it may be---also, violence tends just to become violence---also, well shit you know more about than we do, re the Brits and the Irish, on and on and on, though not forever (altho Brexit)

dow, Monday, 11 January 2021 03:09 (five years ago)

(Also recent events in Oregon etc etc etc)

dow, Monday, 11 January 2021 03:11 (five years ago)

if im a politician im investing in a normal guy costume about now

lag∞n, Monday, 11 January 2021 03:12 (five years ago)

I meant to refer to recent assault on the Governor's Mansion grounds in Oregon as yet another example of something that might get replayed/advanced on) Also second forks on against murder, which gets more likely with streetsweeping bullets.

dow, Monday, 11 January 2021 03:14 (five years ago)

And, you know, friendly fire, shit happens all kinds of ways etc.

dow, Monday, 11 January 2021 03:15 (five years ago)

I really wish Joe wasn't still insisting on being sworn in "on the steps of the Capitol," is that right?!

dow, Monday, 11 January 2021 03:17 (five years ago)

Yeah the brits like i said but listen the dynamics here are surely a little different

The dynamics as happened were cops getting overwhelmed by a bunch of freaks, one cop dying, guns drawn and pointed at the freaks. The public reaction has largely been defined by the insurgents 'winning.' If any had been shot outside or more shot inside, sympathy for the freaks would be huge.

If the powers that be had called in the National Guard the night before and lined them up on the steps like it was a BLM protest, things would have been much better probably, yes.

the tree of the dog sipping the coffee and saying "this is fine" in the room on fire must, every now and then, be watered with the coffee of joe biden on the steps of the capitol saying "this is fine"

Karl Malone, Monday, 11 January 2021 03:18 (five years ago)

Ok thks guys carry on

Daz White (darraghmac), Monday, 11 January 2021 03:20 (five years ago)

What’s the gambit here?

Basically a full-court press to try to take Trump out of office by any means available. The more support it gets, the weaker his position. If his own party only rejects the 25th amendment/impeachment measures, it amps up pressure in the Republican caucuses to join calls for him to resign. It's worth shooting every arrow in the quiver right now, while the anger at Trump is fresh.

shivers me timber (sic), Monday, 11 January 2021 03:25 (five years ago)

xxxp Yes, National Guard w/o shooting people could have been much better.
Think Joe on the steps is being foolhardy at best: he's not just one man, he's the Presidency, and what about all the other lives that would be endangered.

dow, Monday, 11 January 2021 03:26 (five years ago)

Kamala needs to give him the talk.

dow, Monday, 11 January 2021 03:27 (five years ago)

theyve got a vice president, there are plenty of people willing to do the job, its not a big deal

lag∞n, Monday, 11 January 2021 03:27 (five years ago)

The symbolism of Joe ducking out of a normal inauguration would not be helpful in the "emboldening the fascists" department. The Secret Service knows how to tighten down the screws against an assassination on such occasions. Biden will go ahead. Kamala should be discreet in her public exposure that day.

Respectfully Yours, (Aimless), Monday, 11 January 2021 03:32 (five years ago)

Cant imagine kamala being overly motivated tbf

Daz White (darraghmac), Monday, 11 January 2021 03:33 (five years ago)

Ya I think Biden should push for Cap steps inaug but if Secret Service doesn't think they can ensure it be safe then it should be moved

The typical profile involves under-education, under-employment, but I know some who are fairly well-off retirees (that's why they're in the diner, waiting for the NYTimes again).

dow, Monday, 11 January 2021 03:46 (five years ago)

But also some really are hurting, poor and fucked up in various ways. Middle-aged /anxious crazy and still working is another (all of this complicated by covid etc. and adaptation/identity problems)

dow, Monday, 11 January 2021 03:48 (five years ago)

it's just too decentralized for a few decisive confrontations

this, the USA is big, 5x the people and 40x the area compared to UK (iirc)

Überschadenfreude (sleeve), Monday, 11 January 2021 03:49 (five years ago)

Yeah, xp anxious-to-crazy, I meant.

dow, Monday, 11 January 2021 03:51 (five years ago)

A hostage situation or three, or taking over a building, could be a decisive confrontation. Someone suggested that our next few years could resemble The Troubles, with some bombs and some kidnappings as just a part of life.

Are there biker gangs in this whole fascist kaffeeklatsch? it seems like there would be, but i haven't heard a lot about it beyond some "Bikers for Trump" type stuff.

The Hell’s Angels have been Republicans since Nixon.

Joe Biden Stan Account (milo z), Monday, 11 January 2021 04:21 (five years ago)

Saw this posted somewhere:

"We now know that Trump actually wanted the National Guard deployed against hypothetical counter protestors. He really thought he could order the national guard to protect his terrorists.

When he found out he couldn't, he refused to deploy the guard at all. That's why they bypassed him in the end."

Anyone know of a source for this info??

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Monday, 11 January 2021 04:33 (five years ago)

Whats the actual downside to armed forces drawing on and wiping out hordes of q protestors/trumpists/shady scary military looking dudes with cable ties

god I mean I would never want such a thing to happen but if you think about it having a bunch of fashes eat it on national TV might be just the thing to force a real national conversation about police violence

not sure how much more evidence of a coup you're likely to find if that's true
