I think security at inauguration is gonna be a different pony since it isn't going to merely be Capitol police, and Guard and military and Secret Service, and air teams will be there.

The state-capitol protests earlier this year were on Sundays. I'm guessing it's exactly that: cause mayhem before the inauguration rather than trying to disrupt/stop it, and get a better turnout than a weekday.
